I'm in quick need of a Fender Tortoise Tremolo Backplate with the six individual string holes, Fender P/N 0053022000. Anyone know of a real, "go to" type Fender dealer in the US who would have this part in stock and won't ream me with the price and/or the shipping? Or does anyone here possibly have a new one they want to unload? All help is greatly appreciated.

The holes are in the correct position, and it is very good quality, but it is $25. Which is the price of an All-Parts PG

The holes are a bit off, still decent quality, only $6.

Wish I could help you there. I searched my usual spots on-line, and nobody likes to answer phone questions around here at my local shops.

Dude, Angela Instruments rules! I've bought my share of NOS tubes from them, and every one of them were perfect. Love those guys. Thumbs up from me. Great people.

I buy from them often never a problem and many hard to find NOS items.

I bagged a brand new, Fender one off of e-Bay for $13 and change. Shipping was only $4 so I'm most satisfied.

Once again, thanks to all!

Love to see what youre up to with that backplate, Martian.....

Actually, it's rather anti-climatic. I bought a 2007 NOS Deluxe Player's Strat (Sunburst/Rosewood) as it felt, played and acoustically sounded every bit as good as some 'pedigreed' US Strats I've had the pleasure of owning at a price I couldn't refuse. I dumped the Vintage Noiseless pickups (hurriedly) for a Seymour Duncan SSL-2/SSL-2/SSL-6 combo and then did some rewiring: I replaced the pots with a 250K volume pot and two 500K tone pots, one for the neck pickup and one for the bridge pickup (CTS, of course), keeping the OEM cap. I never used the middle pickup by itself and it is very far and between when I combine it with one of the others. So, not liking all that 5 way switch clicking to begin with, I replaced the 5 way with a 3 way, wired the guitar like a Telecaster (because I do love that neck/bridge combo on a Strat) and used the OEM SP/ST switch to kick in the middle pickup when and if (ever) necessary. Of course, the input jack was replaced with a Switchcraft. I also installed Schaller Straplocks in gold because as you know, all the hardware is gold. Lastly, I love the tortoise pickguard but the OEM 6 individual string holed backplate was white. Go figure. Consequently, I wanted to bag a Fender tortoise one with the 6 holes ASAP to finish my little 'diversion' as it surely adds a certain richness to the tripleburst and conformity with the pickguard. Of course, I set it up to my specs all around.

I admit it, I'm blowing my own horn here as everything about this guitar is now outstanding and as much as I loved the DiMarzio Areas are in one of my other Strats (which I recently sold), you can't beat premium single coils for that true, unabridged Strat sound! This guitar now reminds me very much of "L" series Strats.

Oh, and just to be a bit pompous with this guitar, I put on Seymour Duncan pickup covers, all sporting his logo.

Uh-hu. Well, if that's your idea of anti-climatic I'd better not be around when you do something you really consider a turn on. I doubt I could stand the excitement!

Seriously: sounds a neat job. There's many here would find that a textbook mod that suited their needs down to the ground. One for the archives...

Cheers Martian - C
