Only thing left that I really want to do to it, is switch out the American Standard pickups in it now, with some black lace sensors.

Hello JasonSD!

Nice work! Looks like a pro job. What type of Lace Sensors are you thinking of using (apart from being black!)?

Andy

I'm thinking of the emerald, silver, purple set, but I would to try them out first, which is going to be hard.

yeah like 4 cans, took awhile to get the surface even where the stripes are. It has more shine than it looks in the pics, would of liked a little more though.

Did ya wet sand the final coats and buff it out? Sometimes when I do a refinish job, I put on like about 6 coats of clear and then sand off almost 1/2 of it, starting with 1200 and working down to 2000, then a buffer with rubbing compounds... you get the deep shine!

Yeah pretty much, wet sanded with 1200 and 1500, place didn't have 2000 when I went. Used 3M rubbing compound and a buffer on it.

Would it be ok to sand it again and put on more clearcoat? Or would that screw it up. Looks good enough for me, but maybe try it in the future.

You can always sand it and buff it. One just needs to be careful with not sanding through, or buffing through the finish, especially the clear coat. I have had to repaint a whole body by going through the finish. The back edges of the tummy cut are real easy to sand through, as well as the curved on the sides! I have picked up a few Strat Plus' with light belt rash and pick marks, tore the guitar down, carefully sanded with various grits, ending up with 200o and buffing. The body, when finished, literally looked brand new!

Thanks Twelvebar, ever finish your bass?

A bass might be my next project, bought a Pbass clone for $40 that just has clear coat over the wood, and the wood isn't nice grain, but right now I'm having too much fun playing it, but maybe when I need to change the strings I'll paint it. Just something simple, like black.

The bass is getting ready for the refinish, I have everything I need except a new pickguard. i am waiting until I am done painting, before I decide what colour to get.

My brother borrowed my spray equipment, but as soon as i get it back, I'll start it up.
