I'll look into it. Thanks. So it sticks to a print out of the 22? So under the film is paper?

It's just a transparent film with a low tack adhesive on the back. You can stick it on and peel it off several times and it leaves no residue. Ideal for making masks for stencilling.

This kind of thing:

But check around: I get it for a fraction of that price...

So I got the guitar today. I'll post pics a little later. It's a black and chrome squier hss. Got it for $100, seems in decent shape. It needs some major setup done on it though. Action is real high and the intonation is way off.

Like I said before, my wife wants me to keep it as is. So I guess that means she wants me to buy another strat to paint. So I guess that means another strat for me ;) I'll get this one all set up and see how I like it though. Never had a strat with a humbucker in it, so want to have some fun with it before I rip it apart.

I downloaded the pdf spec files for the strat and then opened the pdf in Photoshop. It opens with just the guitar outlines, then I just worked in layers to do what I wanted.

The strings of the guitar were so brittle that one of them busted when I was just testing it out, so I took them all off. Can't do much with it now until I get some new strings tomorrow.

Here's a pic of it though.

Nice guitar you got there. Hopefully you will show the final outcome hehe. So what guitar would you guys recommend on painting? I was planning to learn on a squier guitar just in case i mess it up. Any specific colors that might be easier to remove?

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Well I bought another guitar late last night. So I guess the black and chrome squier will stay as it is. I got a 2006 MIM HSS strat for pretty cheap (I think). So that will be the one I paint. Only thing I would of preferred if it had a rosewood fretboard, just do match the paint better, but it has maple.

Well, I paid $120 for the MIM HSS which I thought was pretty good. I wanted a rosewood neck though, wonder if I can find someone on Craigslist wanting to trade a neck with rosewood for my maple.

So I started stripping the body yesterday. Didsn't go so well, I got paint stripper that says it works on laquer and polyurethane and that it's the strongest formula and takes off multiple layers and yada yada yada. I put it on there, wainted 15 minutes, tried to start scaping and nothing was coming off. So I put some more on and waited and again nothing came off.
It wasn't getting thru the clearcoat. So i had a little sand paper and saded some of the clear coat off of one spot and tried it and it worked.
So I went today and got more sand paper and going to go start sanding now but it's already kind of late so probably won't get much done.

I also found a guy on Craigslist who wanted to trade necks. So I gave him a 2006 MIM maple neck and he gave me a 2002 rosewood MIM neck. I think the rosewood will look a little nicer.

I aslo traded him the 2000 Sunburst American Standard I got a few weeks ago and a old fender amp for a 1991 Lipstick Red (candy apple red? Not sure which) Strat Plus. I'll post a pic later in the Strat Plus thread.

I use a heat gun, and a putty knife. You have to be careful to keep the gun at least 6 inches from the surface and always moving.

I did my MIM P-bass body toni9ght, in around a half hour.

I don't like using chemical strippers at all.

PS i have seen pictures people have posted of burnt bodies, the most i have gotten is a little darkening where I start out.

Yeah I might have to try that, cause this isn't working at all.

If you do decide to go that route, round off the corners of the putty knife. I dragged them across my concrete floor in basement. Rounded off corners, but the rest of the blade sharp make it harder to gouge the wood.

Wow. Heat gun worked way better. The body is pretty much stipped now. I have to do some of the inside still. Only took about an hour. I had to take a few breaks while doing it. I live in Arizona and it's like 110 out.

How important is it to have the shielding paint inside? If it's important, I'll probably leave the inside black I don't strip any of the conductive paint out. Plus I want to leave the little barcode tag thing in there.
