Please excuse me if this is a dumb question. What is the real name for the metal piece that covers the trem (at the bridge). And where can I buy one. I am not use to playing a guitar with a trem and find myself resting my hand on the bridge resulting in unwanted trem action.

The 'ashtray' that you dont get with the 57hotrod wont solve your trem movement problems. A change of technique will (my 57HR has the trem floating, you can apply pressure without movng the trem). With the ashtray fitted you wont be able to dampen strings with your right hand.
You can tighten the tremclaw screws to pull the trem flat to the body so it cant move.
