Great score JasonSD! Wonder what color the body was before it was refinished?

@ cnsky54, Are you asking about the various burst bodies on the Ultra? Like sunburst verses Antique Burst? I think with any of the bursts, there are a lot of variations due to the fact that each color is hand applied. The number of coats causes the colors to be varied. I have thought about shooting a sunburst type finish but one has to have a pretty steady hand to keep the bands even. Also some of these Ultra's have a tint in the finish that causes the top to be darker on some. The Antique Burst is of this nature. Also i have seen a fine gold flake on some of these finishes over the whole body.

The first one below is a 1994, the second is a 1991, and the third is 1993. You can see the variations pretty clearly. Some have more of a red band and others have a much thinner back edge. If this is what you are referring too? The 1994 has a lot more red tint in the finish coat that covers the whole body.

@ Topscore. I think what is frustrating for me is that you sometimes post before you take the time to read what other people have posted. You end up asking questions not realizing that 2 or 3 post previous just dealt with what your talking about. And sometimes you do 3 long post in a row, quoting someone else, so you take a good part of a webpage in your comments. Don't take what i just said personally, or what others have said. But take note of "what" they are saying and think about it. Most of the people on here are really great people. But the nature of email, texts and post on a forum, things can be said that one might not say to someone in person. Just a thought!

Ok here's some pics of the strat plus I just got cheap. Feel free to laugh at it. I noticed too, the strap buttons aren't original but I think I have another set around.

Jason. Looks like it has been painted over with
some animation Jazz player underneath,
or maybe a sticker/label was in place. Know the history?

Also, it appears you've most of the original parts, so it'll be easy (easier )
to make your Strat Plus "more" correct.

Do you know if it's a Strat Plus or a Strat Plus Deluxe?
Good buy. Toppscore :)

Spots where the paint is rubbed off, like on the back, it's like a flat black, so I don't know if that's primer or part of the original paint that lost it's gloss.

The job they did on the paint is actually pretty good, no runs or anything, just has scratches and has a signature on the back, and a big spot that's rubbed off. The front has those decals, then it looks like they put a clear coat on top of that. The decals are kind of hard to see because of the color so I would just leave it like it is and put it back together if the paint condition was a little better. I might still just leave it like it is, most of the scratches and stuff are on the back.

Those grooves on the end of the neck are pretty deep, not sure how you would wear it so much with normal use?? Especially since the frets are in really good shape. I'll have to take a good pic of it when I charge my camera. I was thinking of taking some sandpaper or a dremel and maybe smoothing it out a little and then maybe putting a touch of lacquer on it.

I just got a Cherry Epiphone Dot like last week too for $100. The guy sold it cheap because the input jack fell into the body of the guitar so he couldn't plug it in to play it. So I spent about 10 minutes with a coat hanger and some needle nose pliers and it was good as new. He had it strung for left handed though, so I had to make a new nut for it too.

Sometimes the end of the neck gets like that when the micro-tilt is set up too high and then the person compensate for the problem by adjusting the string saddles up higher..The strings end up rubbing there. I use a fine flat metal file for that kind of fix'in. first wash it off with some warm soapy water, the some lacquer thinner, then file and then clear coat....just a sugjestjion. :o

I don't know much about it, the guy I got it from acting like it was really an inconvenience for me to buy it. The ad didn't mention the back of the neck was sanded, so I was looking at it and said I wish the back wasn't sanded, and he was all like," Well you don't have to buy it, no one is putting a gun to your head", I was like WTF? I said I didn't mean to offend him but I was just saying if I had my rathers, I would rather it wasn't that way. I wasn't asking him to take any less for it.

And then he had a pickguard on a bench in his garage and I asked if that was the one for this guitar and he said yeah but that it's totally messed up and he was going to throw it out, so I asked if I could see it, and he showed it to me, and it was hand painted with a southwest scene with a desert landscape and a lizard, not too great, but looked ok, so I asked if I could have it, and then he said no, he's going to keep it. he was kind of weird and mean lol. He was an older guy, probably in his 60's, and looked like he worked on mostly acoustic guitars, had a lot of guitars that looked like they were being worked on. He had an epiphone 12 string in a garbage can in his garage too, that he said was a project that didn't work out, looked like the headstock broke off and he was trying to fix it.

It's a Strat Plus, all 3 pickups are LS Golds.

Man, I can agree. There are 60(+) pages and I try to keep current towards the last few. I can do better. But, three posts is rare and maybe responding to three different persons and their posts. Seldom is three in a row happening, and then there'd be a real purpose. If I missed something, it's a mistake (and I missed a silly one you caught the other day  ). It happens. Regarding Shimmy and her post and David and his post; were those two really necessary? Were they mean spiritied? Were they intended to make a positive difference to anyone but themselves and to further their own opinions? Maybe to themselves  Simply, I toss their cheap shot back in their face. End of it for me. But, why post a complaint when others are taking time, having fun and put forth effort to enjoy a thread. They had a choice to complain in this thread or PM to me personally or to turn the page. 1,000,000 forum members and two complain; and typically the same pot of five/six complainers. It's put into perspective.

Xhefri, I've had most nothing but great relationships here, aside the few obnoxious complainers. They're everywhere in every forum wherever they can snipe a comment without being known. Hidden complainers with an agenda.

Thanks for your comments. They do make a difference. Toppscore :)

Freak'in A :!: :?: :?: :?:
Something to learn every day.
Do you think the old man felt Lace Senors helped to make "fertility music"?

"Kokopelli is a fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player (often with feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his head), who has been venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. Like most fertility deities, Kokopelli presides over both childbirth and agriculture. He is also a trickster god and represents the spirit of music."

I tell you. I've purchased many guitars and amps.
Way too many sellers have fallen in love with their pieces of wood, plastic, metal & wire;
so much to the point that they're depressed as if loosing a family member.
Really have to watch what you say and how it is said.

Gotta remember to tell sellers their "child" is going into a nourishing home with good food
and fresh air. It'll be well taken care of. That you really do appreciate the high levels
of rust and corrosion they've allowed to accumultate

And all of the scratches & rips really do give their child a well worn classic look with loads of character

That you really appreciate the creative modifications, added switches, drilled holes
and extra paint

That you will really promise on your honor to take care of their baby as one of your own.

Gotta play it up with a true sincere voice and commitment from your heart

Toppscore 8)

 Topscore, you just posted 4 in a row! Ya, I agree, there is no reason for people to get mean spirited. But like I mentioned, people will post, text, or email things they would never say to a person's face...at least most of the time. Most of the time people on here are civil....unless they own Firestorm guitars..... Oh, it looks like your Ultra is now bye bye!

OK, Here is one Strat Ultra I have never owned. I want one so bad but they are hard to find. A Custom Shop 1995 Neck Set! Also note the SN5 serial number! S is used for signature guitars, which this isn't!
