Try as I might, I could not dig up much info on this one, although I appreciate Mike Eldred's input and that of the Fender Customer Service Rep with whom I spoke while trying to research it, but, it certainly meets the criteria and to the best of my knowledge it is a Strat Ultra Prototype...

Thought you might all want to see this. It is just a cut of a price guide off of the Eddie Vegas (UGH) website which has a listing of the strat plus colors included with a 1988 price list. As you can see a few of the rarer colors were listed I'd love to get my hands on this , only time I have ever seen it.

Love that color chart! I have posted it before in this thread, I think. Here is what get confusing. Below is also the add off the 1988 Fender brochure showing what colors were available on different Strats in 88. Some colors are not "dotted" for the Strat + yet are listed in the other 88 color chart above. I am thinking they might be special order only? I have seen every color on here on a Plus except Candy Green (only on a special Tanqueray Promotional Strat Plus or the Clapton Strats). In 1993 they promoted the Strat + DX in the Butterscotch Blonde. I think I have all the charts and ad all the way up to 1996 if anyone wants me to post some of those.

The only place I have seen it listed (so far) was in the 1995 color chart for Strat Plus guitars (see below, and I hope you can read it!). Looks like color #19???

Funny things, after all these years I'm still not 100% sure of some things on my Ultra. My serial number says (on the Fender site) that it's been made in '97 or '98. AFAIK they were discontinued in '97, so I've always assumed mine is '97.
From that I've also assumed that my mid pup is a Silver Lace and true looking at the "Fender Lace Sensor" writing looks like silver.

Yesterday I decided (for the first time in 11 years :P) to try and adjust the height of the pups, as I wanted to bring them a bit closer to the strings.

Looking a bit closer to the mid pup to check if it was flat after I moved it up, I realized I couldn't really tell if the writing was silver or gold, especially with the light coming from my lamp. I tried with different lighting and still I'm pretty confused as it can look as much silver as gold.

Is there a way to know that without taking the pickguard out (or getting a new pair of eyes :P) ?

I have a few questions. First of all, i am about to purchase a surf green strat plus but the rosewood board seems to have faded to a very light brown. Is there any way to restore the dark rich colour? And the serial is E466372 any idea which year isit? And can the wilkinson nut accommodate a .10s gauge?

Hi! E4xxxxxx is usually 1987-1988. See my website for more information: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html The Wilkinson nut can take a .10 set no problem. that is what I use on all my older Ultras and Plus guitars. Also it is most likely that the board was light to start with. I have never really seen Rosewood bleach out. I know there are tinting kits for staining rosewood darker, as I saw a thread on the Forum about that a few years ago, but I have never tried it. You could clean it with some warm soapy water and then dry it very quickly with a cloth. After an hour or so treat it with some wood oil. I have seen rosewood board that are very light colored, really kind of cool in some applications.

Behind the two guitars is pictured a black rosewood neck P-Bass with a Silver Lace Sensor split-coil humbucker in the neck position.

You can add a Silver Lace Sensor Jazz Bass pickup in the bridge and wire your bass in the same fashion as the Boner.

Thought I would send in my take on Xhefri's surf green-bahama green combo.. Since we had high 70's temps in NH yesterday I decided to take the pics outside and enjoy the way warmer than normal March air.
