Here are a couple indoor photos I just took. It still isn't showing the fine metallic as well as it can be seen "in person", but I think these will show the guitar isn't a solid red. I just noticed you can't easily see the metallic in the pics of the Candy Apple Red one posted above either, yet I know in person the metallic would be very apparent. Also notice how there seems to be a "pinkish" pearl in the clear....something I've noticedon pics of other Lipstick Red and Frost Red guitars I've seen online. Do you have any Fender literature from 89/90 showing the actual name "Lipstick Red" being referenced? Was Frost Red listed with Lipstick Red on any of the color charts or sheets together? I do think this is what is commonly known as "Lipstick Red" but I'm curious as to if it ever co-existed with "Frost Red" or if it's possible one evolved from the other. I like the sound of Lipstick Red better, so that's what I'll call it.

Absoloutely Stunning. :D

Just to throw a spanner in the mix, I am sure there was Torino Red also- although it was a dark, flat red. I could be wrong.

is the colour in your strat look like it has a pearl hue to the reflection?

Sure looks like a silver base coat on that guitar. So maybe this is one of those odd ducks that the guys at Fender said, "Hey lets try this!" Just like CAR should have a silver base coat but sometimes they used gold! The color of red in your guitar is like Lipstick Red but with a sparkle... got me what it is. I have invested years into knowing about the Strat Plus and when I think I have seen it all something new comes along that is like a one-off!

I have a 1988 Plus.

Here's the story behind mine. I actually bought a Ibanez 540 Radius from Guitar Center, but I wanted it in blue and they didn't have any. So they told me they could order me from the factory and it would take a few weeks. So I said ok, paid for it, and waiting.......and waited......and waited. I think about a month went by and it didn't arrive, so I went down to find out what was up, while waiting to talk to the sales guy about it, I spotted the Strat Plus and started messing with it and thought it was an awesome guitar. So when the sales guy come over, I told him to cancel the order for the 540 and I'll take the Plus. I already had a Strat, but I just had to have the Plus.

Here's some pics.

Just saw your guitar's twin last night at Guitar Center not too far from me. Looked pretty clean, they were asking $1000. It was VERY HIGH up on the wall, and I wasn't in the mood to get someone to get it down for me so I could play it, but then I tossed and turned all night last night regretting that I didn't play it.

Oh Yeah? Nice. I wouldn't mind getting another one this color, but with a maple neck.
I almost bought one off of CL before, they guy wanted $650 for it, but when i went to get it he said he had someone else coming to look at it, and would sell it to whoever was willing to pay more, even though I already drove to his house. So I told him that was $@!&*% up and I didn't want it anymore and I left.

Hi Everyone,

I bought a new American deluxe Telecaster earlier this year that I'm struggling to bond with. I've struck up a deal with a very reputable guy that I've done deals with before for a 1991 Strat Plus. The Strat is fitted with the Gold Lace Sensor pickups, Wilkinson roller nut, hipshot trem setter and locking tuners. It's finished in pewter with a rosewood fretboard. He says the Guitar is like new and it sounds incredible to me. I've been looking at a few videos on Youtube and some online reviews and this looks like an incredible Guitar. Also, in about 20 years, this guitar will be classified as being vintage, it's already 21 years old now.

I would love to get some feedback from those of you who have had experience with these Guitars. I think this is a great deal. I'm trading a Tele I don't want and never play for another Strat which have always been my number one guitars.
Thanks!

Hey, Great score it sounds like. The Gold Lace will have a real vintage 50s sound. Read through some of this thread to get a feel for the comments and feedback on this guitar. Also check out my website listed by my avatar. These guitars were some of the best made IMHO through the last 80s through the 1990s.

Hi all: Wanted to share a few of my strat plus guitars. Both are 1987 E4 serial numbers with the split nut. Best guitars I ever played. Just picked up the Lake Placid Blue off of ebay and it is essentially un-played with the plastic coating still on the pickguard. Have a candy Apple Red one on the way. Anyway I thought I would share. The Sea Foam Green
( I think) is such a fine guitar, very low serial number..

Thanks if I sell the green one that means I'm all done because that's the number 1 keeper in the collection. Never played another as nice as that one. Its a real early 87. The neck is not like any other I have played.

Ok Folks I could use a little help. When I bought the green strat plus above I was told it was sea foam green. After searching through a few other threads and checking google images I am of the opinion it may or may not be bahama green. Looking for the experts (Xhefri) or someone else to offer up their opinion if they would. Any help would be appreciated.
