Anyone want a blueburst strat plus? This isn't my ad, just thought someone might be interested. The Buy It Now price seems fair. He changed out the pickups though.

Something's definitely not right as far as the "blueburst" is concerned... it looks like a piece of ash has been laminated on the top and bottom of a metallic blue body... the colours of the flat surfaces do not match the sides. Not to mention that weird sanded line that goes all the way around the back contour. It looks like an ultra-style pickguard has been mounted in a third-party body to me. The neck does look like it's from a Strat plus, though.

Yeah the sides and contour look like metallic.

I just bought this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

I have a red 1991 strat plus that has some paint chips on the back, so I'm going to switch out the body to this.

Should be good for that... it's interesting that the seller states that there's a problem with the neck pickup, as I think it might be the same issue I have with the neck pickup on my ultra. I still haven't got around to fixing it. It still works fine in conjunction with the other pickups, so it's not been much of a concern, but it does sound terrible on its own -- weak, thin, seemingly less than half the volume of the others...

Yeah I'll have to test it out. I have a full pickguard from the strat plus now, and I think I'm going to use the one I just bought in the guitar I'm painting. if the pickup is bad, I have a Red Lace Sensor I can swap it out with that I got on Ebay for $20. I wanted either black pickups covers for the one I'm painting, but these will do for now.

To me it looks like a plus deluxe body- they had the ash veneer, a plus neck and a bogus pickguard with lace sensors replaced? its a partscaster- what do you reckon mate?

Yes, now that you mention it and after looking around a bit, there do seem to be a few "Transparent Frost Blue" Plus Deluxe guitars around the place. They look a bit like someone sanded away a metallic blue finish to reveal ash beneath... except that the edges of the veneer should be hidden by the metallic paint. Weird. I know that the Ultra is essentially the same (i.e. flame maple veneer with the edges hidden by the black part of a sunburst finish), but somehow I'm more willing to be seduced when the colours are more traditional and the edges are black.

Perhaps it's just as the seller says, and it's a Plus Deluxe with the only upgrade that would have seemed worth making at the time — Ultra-style pickup configuration and mini-toggle. On reflection, it seems legitimate... I just don't like it very much... heh.

Nice score! I was watching. What are you going to use for a neck?

I believe that the strat plus deluxe was actually a ash/alder/ash laminate body. I've seen other blue bursts and this appears to be consistant with the others to me. Too bad about all the mods to the pickups though.

Well right now I have a 1991 Lipstick Red strat plus with a maple neck. So I'm going to use that neck, So both the body and neck will still be 1991.

The Lipstick red body I have on Ebay now. Then I'll have an extra loaded strat plus pickguard that I'm probably going to use on the guitar I'm painting.

I have 2, a 1988 Pewter and the 1991 Lipstick red, soon to be Midnight Blue I think it's called.

If I didn't sell the lipstick red body. I would just need a neck and I would have 3.

I have one now but I've been watching closely. If I can get a nice one for under 6 I'd say I done good!

Life is GOOD! So my guess is you pull them apart and swap out the parts from one to the other?
