Yeah. Years of hardcore touring I guess. Here's another shot of it:

Kelley Deal's crimson burst looks like it's in really good condition through:

yeah I pointed all that out to him, even the switch type, and the neck plate. Also I doubt fender took custom orders on any of the Plus line.

And I wasn't trying to be mean to the guy, but maybe it came across that way. Just pointing it out, but the guy sounds kind of snobbish in the video and the video is titled Fender Strat Ultra - The Real Deal so I had to point that stuff out lol.

You were right and it looks like he denies evidence.

Kim doesn't only play Strats, she's an incredible Tele freak. I guess she used a black American Standard model with a rosewood neck.

Unfortunately I'm unable to find pictures of her playing the Telecaster.

Speaking of Telecasters, Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead plays the Tele Plus, which has the Blue Lace Sensor pickup in the neck and the Dually Red at the Bridge. I have heard that interest in him has driven up the price of those Teles quite a bit. I wonder if that love will spill over to Strat Pluses and Ultras as well...

With everyone into Relics these days, there doesn't seem to be too much love for the thick poly finishes on the pluses and ultras. There's a hilarious thread on the net I came across called "World's Heaviest/Uncool Strat" where a guy jokingly talks about how uncool his Strat Plus is. He does go on to say how much he actually loves it and how great it sounds though.

I can definitely appreciate how great some of the nitrocellulose finishes look, but the "bowling ball" finish on my Ultra is growing on me again.

No. I don't have THE bowling ball finish. :D

I'm fairly certain there must be a bowling ball out there somewhere that matches my blue burst though...

Nice. Do you guys know roughly how many ultras were produced? Also, what colors were the most common for this model. I seem to remember the shop by me only having the brown and blue burst available when I got mine around 1991-1992.

In terms of colors, I have to say that Fender had nothing on Xhefri's customs. The black with chrome domes on Xhefri's custom page is one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen. The natural one is really sweet too.

Love this thread. I have a 1997 Strat Plus that I've owned since ... 1997. It was my first American Strat. All original. Still has the Gold Lace Sensors. Photos forthcoming.

Desert Sunset is a slightly darker variant of Blue Pearl Burst. We have first seen this finish on the now-discontinued Bonnie Raitt signature models.

BTW there were Custom Shop versions of the guitar built by Denis Galuszka.

Speaking of finishes, this guy has a 1990 strat ultra for sale, and is advertising it a has having an Antique Burst "Thin Skin Nitro" finish.

http://www.market4free.com/classifieds/ ... s/27088527

I assumed all of these had thick poly coats. Is that not the case?

saw that one on Craigs list and LMAO. Asking way to much, thin skin nitro is a fairly new thing i think.
