Yeah well, I hope our voice gets heard. You ask Mike E. on the Custom Shop Forum and the response you get is "We don't get enough requests for them- but we can make one for you"- when you ask about certain 90's models. Yet there are people left, right & centre snapping them up quickly, and there is soo much interest in them. So why I wonder that you get CS TS pickups in a MIM, but never in a Am Deluxe? I bet if they swapped out for Fat 50's, sales would double. Even still, lace still makes an superior pickup IMO- not to say that the latter are rubbish- they're still great pickups but market popularity has proven this over Noiseless, SCN's and yet to see N3 but I believe they to be the best noiseless to date :)

That is why I suggested in a recent thread that a market research survey be done to see what people want and expect because I'd hate to see Fender go down the same road as Gibson are at the moment.

I believe that there are certain models that people are just in a "hate em, or like em" bracket- Blacktop Series, Roadworn are perfect examples of this. Where are the models that appeal to the greatest masses? Am std, Deluxe... The old legacy of the inventor going to the local pub to ask the people what they want is vastly disappearing if not, entirely. It seems that they base the popularity on what appeals to the average Customshop buyer- who for the most part are flooding that market with relics of all kinds, yet they represent a small portion of the overall new fender guitar sales market.

So yeah- I'd like to see Fender conduct a survey, and it would be interesting to see what models the market wants re-issued & released.. even if they were MIM guitars

Blertles, Explain what road you see Gibson going down right now...

Well they seem to be releasing models right throughout the range with the exception of a few- that leave people scratching their heads and asking "you want what amount- for that!?". A good amount of guitars I see are beyond the average budget, which are mainly Les Pauls (people complain of build finish quality eg: frets), and various custom shop models where people just arent seeing the value (grossly over-priced)- not matter how hard they look at it. Im not sure about you, but I signed up to their weekly email news & whatever they release comes through on it (which seems to be rather frequent) and gets poor reactions. The american les paul standard base line range seems to get good reviews though comments on quality, and the Epiphone line gets raving reviews with better quality. But the same old story goes, they are releasing too many high calibre instruments that the average working class can only dream to buy that people dont neccesarily want, especially in this economic climate.. although that is not what I was refering to. I was merely refering to the fact that they (Fender) are releasing models that possibly aren't entirely what people are after with regard to Blacktop & roadworn..

I'm sure there are some on this forum that will swear that there is far greater value in an Epi Les Paul than its american cousin.. I think even if Gibson would do a questionare, perhaps the feedback would be rather surprising for them

This was what I thought you might tell me. Really sad. The nice thing is, there are a lot of older Les Paul and Gibsons on the market one can pick up for reasonable. I have rarely bought a brand new guitar. Too much like buying a new car. As soon as you take it home it just lost 25 to 30% of its value. I prefer older guitar, because every time I want to sell it and get something different I usually make money on them or at least get my money back.

In natural light has orange and pink hue. Really very nice colour.
pickguard is aged white cream ( looks white in the picture).
E4Model end 87/ begining 88 i suppose .
I dont have the original back plate .
any idea where i can find one and was it specific in 87?[/img]

Fender used the same back plate from 87 to 99 on all these Plus models that came with white and white pearl pickguards. A white/black/white with one slot on the back. I have a stack if you need one.....

would you mind checking ?
the pickguard is more cream ( yellow cream?) than white
so i suppose the black plate was cream?
i will be happy to buy you one .

Hey shadyhaven, Welcome to the Fender Forum. We would love to see your guitar. Take time to look over my website listed below and you can learn a lot about these wonderful guitars. Looking forward to see what you have!

If I were selling counterfeits, I would use pictures of the real guitars in my marketing efforts. I would do a better job of photo editing, however.
