Yeah I love it! But just to correct you-that's an ebony fingerboard, another unique feature of the Strat Ultra guitars. Another feature is the Tremsetter tremelo, which supposedly allows the strings to stay in tune in case one breaks. As it is, it rarely goes out of tune.

It's my opinion the years that the new Fender company, from about '85 to '95, was a golden age of manufacturing. This is because the new ownership had to prove itself as a competitor to Gibson and others.

ImageThis guitar was made in 1990, according to the serial number. Blue neck, Gold middle, and red 'dually' neck pickups. Sorry about the pics; my flash isn't working correctly.

Can I ask- is that an actual flamed (for lack of a better word) veneer or a foto finish like on the old japanese foto finished strats?

my bad, Ebony. My standard Strat Plus had a Tremsetter also stock on it. it was an option in the early 90s. it normally was exclusive to the ultra, but it was put on standard Plus models from time to time.

At the moment, I'm waiting for my first plus. Just checked UPS tracking and it will arrive today. Supposedly 94 blue pearl dust (or blue burst) in mint 9.9 condition. The story is that the old chap that owned it loved guitars but could not (more like didn't have the time to) play them. We'll see! OHSC too! He has over 200 pieces stashed away and is now selling them off in this depressed economy.

I don't know; I thought that only Japanese models came with the foto finish. It wasn't a popular finish, just rare.

OMG - that is THE most beautiful strat I've ever seen!!!

The finish actually looks like a special "splatter" technique that Fender did for a short while. You can still find the splatter strats on ebay and elsewhere... usually MIMs

Thank you for sharing! Be my friend?

Well the plus just arrived. I'll let it acclimate for an hour or two before I open the box.

Here's mine: 1989 strat plus. Completely stock, and still play it every day. Unbelievably good instrument.

I've been working on her all day. Really nice. The case is perfect. The guitar is a blue burst. The satin Schallers are magnifico!. The Lace are dead silent OMG! I still have to study up on the Tremsetter as I've never set one up before. The guitar is perfect except for a small ding on the back and some laquer coming off the sides of the maple board... this seems to be a common problem with maple pluses.

I'll get some pics up asap but I'm starting to run out of steam from all the discovery and excitement.

whoever it is that owns that flamed ultra..If you would ever consider selling please contact me....I have just started a new search thanks to your posting..I'm going to give my wife your posting info and blame the missing money from our bank account on you..I'm going to tell her that you provoked me buying another guitar..The same as a crack dealer pushes drugs on a crack addicted..I truly feel that it is all your fault that i will be spending a sizable amount of money...Therefore you must bear some of the responsibility for it.......

Hey, thanks for the tip. They came out a bit too large perhaps? Just like the guy said that sold it to me... basically unplayed.
