Yeah I've seen that vid before.

I bought a set of Fender Lace Gold Sensors today for $90. They've really yellowed but are in good shape, can see all the lettering on them. I would of preferred if they were a little whiter, but oh well. The guy said he pulled them out of a Clapton strat.

I also picked up a 2004 black mexican standard strat for $100. Had to drive 90 miles round trip to get it, but couldn't pass it up.

Yes they are really great guitars, I own a 1990 version one sunburst maple neck 3 gold Lace sensors.
Most of my Strats come out of this era, and in fact is a Strat plus is no more than a Standard with some inovative add-ons, but the real inovation was the sound out of the Fender Lace Sensors. I really love them. Don Lace did a marvelous job creating these noiseless pick ups. They really sparkle , and are quiet even at high volumes. I am totally fond of them. This was the best thing that could happen to a Strat then.
I also own a Blueburst 1989 Tele Plus also version one, Blue Lace sensor neck, dually red sensor in the bridge, splitable, man this thing is amazing.
I own most of the pick ups, Fender has produced, Texas specials Strat, 54's, Texas Specials Tele, 51 nocasters, even the 1981 Fullerton57- 62 reissue's set, but the Lace sensors are my favorites.
Pitty that Fender diden't release a double fat Strat with Double blue in the neck and dually red in the bridge this would have been a stunning guitar.
By the way there is guy Xhefri's Guitars, who has dedicated a complete website to the Strat Plus, a real cool website, you can find loads of information about these wonderfull guitars there.

Here's my 93 Plus. I went into a music store back in 95 fully prepared to buy a brand new American Standard. Even picked out the one I wanted, but then the salesman remembered they'd gotten a Plus in on a trade-in the day before and brought it out. Played it for a few minutes, and fell in love. This is the one thing I own that I will never, ever get rid of.

Oh and if anyone in the Vancouver area is looking for an Ultra, I found one in a pawn shop today. Firestorm finish, Wilkinson nut, standard bridge. Pickguard wasn't stock (black) but it looked nice. They want $1499 Cdn for it, which seems pretty high to me, but everything in the store seemed overpriced so I would imagine the price could be talked down. Didn't play it as I really can't afford it right now and didn't want to start craving it more than I already am.

Hey mate nice Guitar and welcome to the forum!! :)

I think that price for the Ultra is pretty good in my neck of the woods, I paid NZD$1700 for mine which was a steal. Mind you, down here they are much more rare down here. I have seen two for sale, mine and another very similar to mine in the last 5 or so years :)

Xhefri frequents these forums- I wouldnt mind betting he will tune in before long :) He's a real top bloke :)

I have been digging around and doing some research on Strat Plus colors. I am convinced that some colors were called different things different years. But here are two years I have nailed down by using Fender sales brochures. 1988 and 1995.Please note that in 95 they dropped the "5" in front of the color code:

1988 Strat Plus Colors

502 Lake Placid Blue
506 Black
509 Candy Apple Red
517 Bahama Green
519 Dusty Rose
532 Brown Sunburst
540 Fiesta Red
541 Vintage White
543 Pewter
557 Surf Green
558 Tornino Red
568 Gun Metal Blue
570 Graffiti Yellow
580 Arctic White
583 Ice Blue
584 Razz Berry

yet i know in 88-89 these were sold too:

543 Pewter
580 Arctic White

1995 Strat Plus colors

06 Black
07 vintage Blonde
15 Lipstick Red
19 Mystic Black
25 Crimson Burst
32 Brown Sunburst
36 Blue Burst
37 Antique Burst
80 Arctic White
87 Electric Blue
90 Blue Pearl Burst
91 Black Pearl Burst

Did you find out exactly was Bahama Green, Xhefri?

Youve obviously done a fair amount of work on the topic of Plus/Ultra colours, I bet cracking the Da Vinci code would be a similar undertaking

The Da Vinci Code was easy compared to the Fender Code..... Yes Bahama Green was a fact, but then there was, NOT listed, at least in any sales brochures I have found, Caribbean Mist, Sea Foam Green, Shoreline Gold, Aztec Silver, Taos Turquoise, Burgundy Mist Metallic, Midnight Blue, Shell Pink, Midnight Wine, as well as Fire Storm.

There's a 89 or 90 for sale locally. Been on ebay for a while. Blue Burst, rosewood, R/S/B set up. If it is still for sale in Feb/March 2011, gonna have to snatch it up. It's either that or a 9mm barretta. Knowing me, I'll my annual bonus money for another guitar instead of the gun :?

I picked up a 89 black strat plus the other day for $600. I don't know if I'm going to keep it yet, or resell it so I haven't posted any pics of it.

Neck is in great shape, body has a few scratches and dings. Would like one a little cleaner, that's why I might sell it.

Someone had a nicer 89 LPB (I think) body for sale on ebay, but I got outbid for it.

Ya I was watching that one too. I like LPB and they are pretty rare in a Plus. Did you get it in Craigslist or?

yeah craigslist, same guy I got 2 other Strat Plus' from.

There's a gun metal blue plus on ebay too, but the guy swapped out the Lace with soem Dimarzios I think, and took off the roller nut, but I'll keep on eye on it and see where it's at before it ends. I like that color, that body has a couple of small dings and chips.
