haha The nineties aren't going down witout a fight yet!! I do hope fender realises a demand for the type of guitars we enjoy- Ive said it many times- the colours, the pickup combinations and the model variants completely own todays line-up without question. Thats not excluding the models besides the plus/deluxe/ultra line!

People remember the magazines and the catalogues we read as teenagers and they still want them... the Fotoflames, Pluses, the old signature EC & JB with Laces, FR Classic American strats, the re-issues from Japan etc...
(speaking of which, your tele reminded me of it- one guitar I never see here is the 90's Tele Custom with gold hardware, matching headstock and pearloid binding. The were in olympic white or black with pearloid to match... has anyone seen one?)

I could never understand why they re-issued Hot Rodded models (roadhouse, Lonestar) when there is clearly more interest in the Plus line with people snapping up the old ones so quickly over the HR series! The only thing I could put it down to is the fact that Fender prefer to use their own pickups whenever they can. When the new Am Deluxe came out, there was a little hope inside me that was anticipating something completely different to the Noiseless series...

+1

Defiantly something Fender should re-visit. The Plus and Ultra Strats were awesome!

pulled mine apart today to change strings, check for build dates, and...there are none! The neck is stamped H.Montez and os-3-8 is written in pencil. The neck pocket has 508 in pencil. Tried pics, but they didn't come out well at all.

I am guessing this is a very early 88 or late 87 due to the square shape on the bottom edges of the pickups plastic and the lack of good dates, plus the split nut. I am sure this is an CAR that has darkened. Looks just like my 87 CAR Plus.... Nice guitar. If you ever want a 87-88 pickguard to make it original, give me a shout!

Well, I got my Telecaster Plus. It is cleaner than I hoped for. First one I have even owned even though I have had a lot of Strat Plus guitars. Pretty cool. The guy had .11s flat wounds on it. A little different. The mini-switch engages the bridge pickup when your on the neck selection.

Dear Xhefri, I never seen a Strat Plus in a Stratoburst finish.

John C said that Fender offered the 1st generation American Standards, the Pluses and Deluxe Pluses (c. 1986-1989) with the Stratoburst finishes which were introduced in the early 1980s on a couple of Dan Smith Standards and Elites. I saw Greg Fessler building a Custom Classic Stratocaster in Blue Stratoburst a couple of years ago.

Does your guitar have the LSR roller nut and the locking tuners installed?

Which pickups you have used?

Hey Xerfi, nope, I put a thick bone nut and 2 string trees on it, since i rarely use the trem, Like that it stays in tune a lot more.
Basically I just went with my luthier, descrbed him how I wanted my "dream guitar" for the price of a "Highway One", and searched for whatever was avialble there (he has loads of parts), so the body is custom handmade ash, as a 60´s replica, the tuners, pickups and pickguard(just changed to a black one) come from a 2001 American standard, and the neck and the bridge come from a 95 am dlx plus. Quite a "deluxe" frankenstein indeed!!!.
In my musical circle, this guitar is "the star". It´s nice 2 have your own custom built guitar, cause i know there´s not one like her in the whole world, and 2 me she´s a real Fender cause all components are original fender usa made.

Just a small time collector...
Here are some shots of my 1987 Strat Plus.

I posted this on the thread where they were discussing this color, but in hindsight I think these were some left-over Elites in the Stratoburst hanging up on the wall with some early Pluses in those pearl finishes that were a bit darker in the center than they were on the edge.

Sorry, it has been about 23 years and memory plays tricks on you.

Oh - nice 2nd version Tele Plus also; those were very cool guitars.

Super Clean 87 Plus! Tell us a little bit about it! Where you got it in such NOS condition? What is it's history? See there is a bit of shrinking on the finish, which is common on some of the solid color older Plus' I have NOS 91 in Black and it has the same.
