Xhefri - I have a problem that I'm thinking you might be able to help me with. I have a 1994 Fender Strat Ultra that has Shaller bright chrome machines. I've lost one of the circular tuning lock thumb screws. I've tried different ones but they don't work. I need one that has a solid back and the a single hole. Also, the flange around the hole on the ones that I have are too low... I need one with a taller shoulder.

In advance, thanks for your help.

Man oh man, loosing one of those in the brushed finish like on a Plus is bad enough, but a Chrome one from an Ultra is super hard to find. For some reason, Schaller changed the thread design in the late 1990s. So the only caps that will fit are from apre-1999 set. Sometimes people sell individual tuners on eBay. Sorry, but you are a bit out of luck. If I had a drawer full of these I could make some money as I get asked about missing caps about 2-3 times a week. And then to make things worse si the fact that some places online sell caps, calling them Schaller "Strat Plus locking tuner cap," and they don't work!

Thank you for your reply.
Yes the actual machine head is loose but the nut on the face of the headstock is as tight as it can go but it is still loose and wiggles when you touch it.
I really hope I've not damaged it.
What do you think?

If that be the case, pull the strings out of the E and B and take those tuners all the way off and compare and examine. It should tighten down by turning that nut unless it is cross threaded. But at least if you take those two off you can get an indeed what might be going on. Then if everything looks ok, and you cleaned the threads, then put the B where the E was and the E where the B was and tighten. Use a long socket and not a pair of channel locks or crescent wrench! A 10mm socket fits. I have seen people scar the face of their head-stock and make scratches on the nut and washer using the wrong tools!
Thank you.I'll give that a go.Sadly I already scratched and took some of the brushed finish of the nut as the small spanner I used chewed it slightly.

Lace sells their Duallies with Deceptor covers. No longer need to use DiMarzio humbuckers anymore.

Sorry I am so late to the party here. This is my niece attempting to rock out on my '89-'90 Strat Plus. I wish I could be more accurate on the year. I know the serial # started with either an E or an N. I purchased it new for around $450 w/case and sold it a few years back on eBay for around $850. I loved the color on this guitar.

Thanks very much for the welcome, Dan. No, sadly she didn't keep up with it. She's too busy these days styling hair and being mom to her 5yr old girl. She didn't really have an interest in it. I use to know all about that guitar, including the color name. It was a metal flake sort of deep blue with just a tiny *hint* of deep purple. I really wish I could have afforded to keep it at the time I sold it. It went on eBay and some guy about 65 miles from me bought it. AFAIK, he still has it. I came to this forum hoping to track him down but I haven't had time to go through almost 100 pages of posts hoping to *maybe* find him and see how he is getting on with the Plus.

Regards,
M.

It looks like Midnight Blue aka Candy Apple Blue. Here is mine with a rosewood neck.

I'm looking at buying my 1st Plus but have some concerns over the wiring photo's provided to me by the seller. Will somebody more knowledgeable please provide some input into whether this is a dodgy rewire as I suspect it is?

You got that right. Fender NEVER used red wire to wire a Strat Plus so someone has monkeyed with this. The tone control and the TBX look maybe original but the vol pot is a cheap replacement. The TBX is wired wrong as well. There should be only one wire from the middle lower lug running to the switch. That's not right! Ummm...

If this was done it makes me wonder about the rest of the guitar? More picts?? of the back of the pickups and the head stock etc.

Also the pickguard is not original. I can tell by the foil..... The guitar appears to be Sonic Blue???

Hi H2DT and welcome .. the only pic I've got is of an Ultra ..

I may be wrong (need more pics!!!) but it looks like yours has lace sensor pickups with the "inconvenient" wires clipped &some others thrown in.

in this case the "dodgy" re-wire is my own ... ( :

Best advice you'll ever get with respect to acquiring one of this series of guitars, and as a delicately as I can within the R'nR's of the Forums, is to encourage you to visit Xhefri's website and let your fingers do the walking.

1996 and then discontinued April of 1997 according to Fender's marketing brochures and their in-house data base. The guitar you have shown in the picture has been refinished as there is blue paint over the brass ferrules that the bridge post screw into. Have you seen any of these posts? You asked the questions but then never came back and responded....
