Yeah I thought it was a long shot offering my American Deluxe as a trade... No harm in asking :) the reserve has been set pretty low by the looks of it

Hi guys, just giving an update on my gold strat plus and the refinish now that it's complete, here's some picks.

Decided to leave the roller nut tuners etc buy changed out the emgs that the previous owner had installed for some abigail custom shop 69's, sounding better than ever now!

I can appreciate the sophistication of the mods, and if it plays to suit you, so be it, but it seems to me that what made this guitar a Strat Plus is what is no longer in the guitar.

What is it specifically that makes a guitar a Start Plus that your referring to? So far the only thing that I've changed are the non stock emg pups to fender pups and the non stock gold refinish to the new cream finish.

Would have loved to have heard the lace sensors in this guitar but I was limited to what I could trade some pedals for pickup wise and the custom shop pups seemed he best option

The first Plus Series of guitars were introduced in 1987. Apart from locking tuners, and the roller nut which underwent a revision along the way, the hallmark feature of that line was that which you previously stated you wished you could have installed. Namely, the Lace Sensor pickups, which were a revolutionary design at that time. Both Strat and Tele had Plus models.

The new Strat Plus series is also characterized by unique circuitry featuring interchangeable modules.

Those Abbey 69s can nail Jeff's Strat tones from his Wired days.

Not sure if he swapped the Suhrs for a set of 69s after switching to the reverse headstock. :?

One thing I've noticed is the presence of a string tree in the new reversed neck. Not necessary as the Wilkinson roller nut makes it redundant.

Looks like the OP's built himself a worthy instrument. 8) Wonder if Beck has decided to explore the tonal variations of a reversed head stock. :?: Next step is to flip the bridge pickup.

...and install the whole assembly into a lefty Olympic White body flipped upside down - unless El Becko opts for the voodoo setup you're talking about.

If Jeff wanted to "mimic" Jimi he would likely put a 22-fret reverse "large headstock" neck on his main stage guitar - though he was seen playing CBS Strats in the 1970s and early 1980s.

One of his '54s - originally finished in 2-tone sunburst - was stripped down to natural; this guitar is often recognizable for its broken-off 3-layer pickguard.

Over the years Jeff swapped the 1-piece maple neck for a "large headstock" rosewood neck from his white '72. Fender Japan did a faithful reproduction of this axe which is no longer into production.

Too complicated. Just a change in the slant of the bridge pup. All it requires is a new pickguard.
