Ok so now I am curious. I have has this strat + for about a year. It was listed as Lake Placid Blue which was fine with me because its in fine shape and the lowes serial number I have ever seen on a strat + .However looking at the color is it the same color as xhefri's Electric Blue? Most likely not but I'd like to hear other's opinions.

Seems like a very subtle difference.

Lighting is everything.

I am not sure where those picts came from that ebaysux used but there is a big difference between Lake Placid Blue and Electric Blue.

Here is Lake Placid Blue:

And this is Electric Blue:

Big difference. The problem is with the picture taking most of the time. This is interesting reading about colors: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html#C13

I got the pictures from a website that sells them. But you can also google image "lake placid blue stratocaster and get this....

or "electric blue stratocaster" and get this...

In the pics you posted one was taken indoors, and one was taken outdoors...that could make a difference as far as a pic turns out. It seems to me going by all these pics that the electric blue is similar but a richer more metallicish blue and the lake placid is a bit more subtle....depending on lighting. I guess the best way to notice would be having both colored guitars right in front of you in the same light and the differences would be more apparent.

I own both and I can assure you these colors that I posted are accurate. Lake Placid Blue is darker and Electric Blue is very bright—thus why it is called Electric! Like mentioned before, a lot has to do with the camera and lighting. The LPB in the picture is in the sunlight coming through a a window.

I checked the source for both these pictures and both say: ( http://www.themusiczoo.com/images/9-15- ... 3627_a.jpg ) So these two picture are the same picture. No wonder they look the same! LOL! Maybe you made a mistake when you cut and pasted the link for the Electric Blue???

Ah yes I did mess up. Trust me this was not some kind of grand conspiracy conducted to prove the 2 shades of blue are similar. What seems to have happened is I saw the word "electric" in the second attempt but it was not meaning electric blue...but electric guitar. Part my fail, part google fail. I retract everything and should be lambasted in a hearty pesto sauce.

LOL! Hey I've done way worse on this forum than that. Anyhow there's a lot of controversy about different colors and there's a lot of reasons for it. Some has to do with the clear coats yellowing, some has to do with misinformation it's on the web posted by people, some has to do with lighting and camera work which misrepresents the color. It all makes for interesting forum discussions!

I am all good with it. If not for all the anomalies, mistakes, ambiguity and controversy these forums would be pretty dull. All par for the course when you enter the world of Fender. And when you consider they started out using automotive paint that takes it to a whole other level. For example if you have a "gray" interior and need something for it...good luck. Is it light gray, medium gray, dark gray, pewter, charcoal, medium charcoal, dark biscuit, neutral, dark neutral, slate, medium dark pewter, graphite, shale, steel...etc etc? ... [insert faceplam here].

And when you get down to it with Fenders it seems the color controversy is just the tip of the iceburg.

And to add to this....I have a mid 80s MIJ 62 reissue body. Now the previous owner has it drilled for a 2 post modern bridge and I am considering going back to a vintage. I will need to pound some dowels in and do not wish to do an entire refin since most of it will be covered by the bridge. But I will need some paint and can not figure out what it is. It seems Fender like in the days of using automotive dupont lacquer call various shades of blue "green" and I seem to have to figure out which shade or it cost me at least 16 dollars plus shipping per mistake. Now look at this body and tell me if you would know what to order...
(it is the one on the upper left).

So it that surf green, sea foam green or daphne blue? Or something else?

Getting back to your question at hand, this could be settled by what serial number you have on your guitar. Electric Blue came out in late 1994 and was gone by early 1996. So I am thinking your guitar LPB as it has a Wilkinson nut on it showing it is pre-mid-1993. Love writing that word!
