Interesting, I thought Carribean mist was only present in 1993- note the change to LSR and the new bridge! Pretty mint Xhefri!! :D

I have another Caribbean Mist on the bench right now that is a 1993, but you are right, seems like most of the Caribbean Mists were around 1993-94. I found a couple other Caribbean Mist Anniversary guitars that were based on the American Standards. This was the first one I have seen based on a Plus.

They also released a limited edition 1994 Anniversary American Standard in Carribean Mist w/matching headstock- not easy to find, but worth owning if you ever see one in good nick. You did well on this one, it's a plus deluxe no? If so, it's a rare bird for sure to have scored in this colour :D this colour hasn't been resurrected in the catalogue since.. Funny that. Unless I'm not mistaken, it's a rare colour for fender?

Here's my 1993 Plus in Carribean Mist:

It's one of my favourite colours :)

BTW, notice the Trem arm in the pic above, is this the correct one for the Strat Plus of that year?

Blertles...I know we don't agree on much, but that Caribbean Mist is a beautiful color. Enjoy.

The Trem arm look correct and it it screws in properly and tightens up, that is all that matters. Looks just like the one on my bench except mine is a DX. The only difference is if it has Gold Laces or the Blue/Silver/Red combo. I did not see many of these in the DX version for some reason. Love the color and it is very hard to photograph. My picts our a bit yellow and when I desaturate the yellow even more, the guitar turns too blue. Weird how I ended up with 2 at the same time. Seems like that happens—I get colors in 2s. Like right now I have 2 Bahama Green Plus', one with maple and the other rosewood.

Here is a cool Strat Plus DX I picked up a while ago. And again with Fender serial numbers and manufacturer dates do not always jive. N3 serial number but a 1994 Anniversary model in Caribbean Mist! :-)

This guitar was the last to feature the silver transitional logo used since 1986/87. Fender switched to the spaghetti-style logo the following year.

When it rains, it pours. Just like in SoFla.

Interesting to note that Carribean Mist (47) was not a listed colour for the Strat Plus Deluxe in 1993. Not sure about 1994, but I would say that it wasn't either.

Hey Blertles, My 94 40th Anniversary Plus is a DX. My 93 with a rosewood fretboard is not (I thought it was! Too many guitars!) I think the Anniversary was something special as they came in several colors, such as Mystic Black, CAR, and some others. But even after saying that, what is in a Fender catalog and what the reality is, is two different things!

Here are some picts I took tonight using a flash. Greens are really hard to get color accurate. As you can see this one is near mint, Gold Lace Sensors, and it is a 1993.

Here is a Bahama Green that I finished cleaning up today. With a flash it almost looks like Caribbean Mist! The other Strat Plus is my 1991 amalgamation. It has a 91 neck and a late 87 body with the Ultra pickgaurd setup. Kind of looks a little Becky... The guitar in the middle we will not talk about. (Its an 88)

You got my curiosity up so refered to my website as I recently updated dates and color information on there. Here is a list from the 1994 the Fender catalog for Strat Plus & Strat Plus DXs. Thing is, I know there were more than this but at least it is a reference. I have a pict of the actual catalog on my site in this section http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html#C3 :

06 Black
15 Lipstick Red
19 Mystic Black
21 Natural
28 Crimson Burst
32 Brown Sunburst
36 Blue Burst
37 Antique Burst
47 Caribbean Mist
73 Midnight Blue
75 Midnight Wine
80 Arctic White
90 Blue Pearl Burst
91 Black Pearl Burst

Now that Plus is interesting- there you have the old 'Contemporary' logo with an LSR nut instead of the wilkinson.. Also that you have a Pearloid pickguard too. Which as I always thought that somewhere in late '93 (thinking about it, it's got to be 1993) or very early in 1994 they made a swift change to pearloid, wilkinson to LSR, and old logo was changed to spaghetti in 1995. It makes me wonder when these changes were implemented as you can see mine has a Wilkinson nut and standard W/B/W pickguard in the same year. Note also, the 'Mini Floyd' on your DX although in your 1994 Brochure picture it's not present..

You are right on the colours in 1994 too, sporadic runs of different colours all year round with constant rotations for the 1994 anniversary badged Stratocaster only. Limited runs for the matching Headstock variant. I remember it, it must have been the most colourful year that Fender had as far as colours were concerned. I'd love to get my hands on a Carribean Mist w/matching headstock. Not all strats had the little badge on the headstock that said '40th Anniversary' though.

But as for Carribean Mist, it's never graced any fender model since 1994. Not offered by the Customshop either. Not even from Japan. I've seen Taos Turqouise used in the customshop recently but as far as Carribean Mist, Bahamas Green- nothing since the 90's! :)

Taos Turquoise and Mystic Black were unauthorized by the two former Yardbirds Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. I've had the chance to see an ultra-rare Clapton Strat in Taos Turquoise belonging to Eric himself, the link containing the photos is no longer working.

I remember you sharing that one time before. Really a cool and hard to find color in a Plus. I have owned two and let them both go like a dummy! :? :(

Next time, ask a better price, and you won't feel so ill-used.
