My first/only Fender atm is a '95 Strat Plus that I assume is Vintage White (not white enough for Arctic I don't think). I emailed Fender customer relations with the serial to try and verify it isn't just faded (haven't peeked under the pickguard) after almost 20 years. It's new to me, though, I don't even have a week's history with it. GC wanted $900 but I got it for $800 since there was a ding in the finish along the bottom where you rest it on your leg ie can't even see it  A few other little imperfections here and there, but for a nearly 20yo instrument it's in really good shape.

I love having the roller nut, locking tuners, tremsetter, Lace Sensors, and the TBX. I recently lost the lower inlay at the 12th, though you can't really tell because it's still black. Though the other inlays have some sort of opaque stain partially covering them. Still a fine playing/sounding guitar.

Nice one, I really like the look of an older white Strat. That color is probably Vintage White, although it might be Artic White that's really yellowed.

You can take a look here at Xhefriguitars: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html#C13 about halfway down the page is the heading The Color Controversy and he lists all available colors of the Plus line.

That's the site I first read about the Plus on, and what made me think mine is Vintage White (or a really yellowed Arctic hehe). GC called it Olympic White :|

Does that catalog have a Buddy Guy Signature Strat in it. If so....could you post the description?

@ZZDOC

This is Fender's catalog for 1993.

The American Standard Jazz Bass returned to the original 20-fret design with graphite neck reinforcements and a string-thru body option as of 1994. New American Deluxe basses were unveiled in July 1995 with JS-designed active electronics and dual access bridges. Fretless and maple neck options were added two years later. A maple neck option was also offered on the American Standard Precision and Jazz basses. The American Deluxe line dropped the Plus prefix in 1998 and solid tonewoods replaced the ash-veneered bodies. Abalone dot inlays adorned the rolled-edge fingerboards and dual-coil ceramic Noiseless pickups replaced the JS single-pole stacks in 1999.

The BG Strat was introduced in 1995.

Heya Mr DreamError, Just came home from India this evening......since your Strat Plus is a 1995, I will give you the colors Fender had listed in their 1995 catalog. Also the colors listed from a few other catalogs. I have "almost" every year for the Plus guitar. I really need to clean up the color code section of my website. I am missing a few code and and the colors of a few codes. (Confused?) :-) Also it is interesting to note that Fender moved the serial number to the back of the headstock in 95! AND.....remember with fender inconsistency is their middle name. Also as the years crossed over (a 1993 can have 1994 stamp dates in the neck socket and on the but of the neck, the colors overlap, or in some cases, are simply just not listed even though produced!! )

The other weird thing Fender did was change the first number on all the paint codes. In 1987-88 all codes started with a 5xx and then by 1990 they started with a 7xx and then by 1994 they dropped the first number completely, going to a two number system!

Yeah Chromeface is right Doc, the Buddy Guy Strat isn't on this catalogue, would've appeared in frontline the year after or 1995 :)

Thanks. I'm looking for an example of that short-lived model they produced which I've referenced often in previous dicussions. Thought it might be found there. If, in your ramblings through vintage Frontlines, you find one spec'd with a 12db midboost, let us know. No back to your local station.

P.S. Welcome back, Jeff. :D No worse for wear, we see.

FWIW, this picture is from the Fall 1997, Vol 23 issue. The Buddy Guy is listed as having a 25db Boost Preamp.

Note of Warning: this is advertising, it has only a superficial relationship to reality!

It's right under the Eric Clapton ad which only mentions an "active mid-boost circuit".
Again, it's advertising and they don't want to admit that they're using the same electronics. :)

Image

According to Tony Bacon in "The Stratocaster Book": The model ran from 1995 to 2009 as a US issue in Sunburst or Blonde (see color codes in ad).

From 2002 to current? as a Mexican Revised in Polka Dot.

Active circuits are mentioned in both descriptions, but no specifics on boost level.

Hope that helps ZZDoc.

The only verifiable references to a 12db Mid-Boost Circuit I can find, are for the Elite and the Powerhouse Strat models. Doesn't mean a Buddy Guy model didn't have it.

Any others seem to be "mis-remembered" writings in talk forums, from unverified sources (the internet).

The Almighty Internet, storehouse of all information; factual, nearly correct and wholly imagined.
