Yeah Doc I hear ya, ive only had it a couple of weeks, the neck setup is such that the action is the lowest of any guitar Ive owned and the pup praps needs lowering a touch.
Does show that the pups can be near the strings with little ill effect though.

Any of you use 11's on the 2nd version of the Wilkinson roller nut? I've only ever used 9 or 10's on them and just wondering how tight a set of 11's are thru the slot. More curious about the wound strings really I guess.

Yeah I think I'm going to try .0105-0480 and see if that works.

Let us know Jason. Some Wilkinson Nuts will allow .11 and some will not. I have a lot of these that will only take .09 which is a bummer. Who wants to be locked into just .09s??? I was told one can get diamond filing paper to cut the groves open more. Dentists use these to file the edges and gaps on teeth. I looked into the price to buy some and OUCH! Need to talk with a dentist and see if I can just get a couple instead of a small box.

Are replacement roller nuts (genuine Fender) easily available?

The reason I ask is because my local guitar shop here in Aberdeen, Scotland has a couple for sale. They are still in there original Fender rainbow style packaging. If I recall they have both the old and new style nuts found on the Strat Plus.

If anyone needs one let me know and we can organise something.

Dear Ian, if you are asking about Wilkerson Nuts, they are very hard to find. I see them pop up, most of the time used, on eBay. Interesting that they have them there in Scotland! But is guess Wilkerson is a British chap, so I can understand a few being up there in your area! What kind of price are they asking in pounds???

I think they have both the LSR and Wilkinson roller nuts.

If memory serves me right they want around £35 each for them, but they have been in stock for YEARS, so I'm sure some deal could be struck.

If you are interested, I can investigate further and let you know?

Ian.

Hey Xhefri! I've got a question for ya!

So a few months ago, I had my first encounter with one of these guitars. I was at Guitar Center when an older gentleman brought in his lovely Graffiti Yellow Strat Plus. It had the split Wilkinson nut and the E4 serial number, so it was a very early model. It had some modifications, including a pearloid pickguard and a Dimarzio humbucker in the bridge position. Regardless, he let me play it, and it was monstrous, not only in sound, but seemingly in size as well.

I had my Mexican Strat with me, and it just seemed like the Strat Plus was a whole lot more guitar.

My question is, were the Strat Plus bodies and necks thicker than other Strats?

I need to be honest and explain that I know very little about Mexican Strats. I have only owned one. I would think that the bodies would be the same cut unless the MIM was a reissue type guitar. But what I can say is that most of the Plus guitars I have owned were heavier and I have told people, "When you have one of these in your hands, it is like you have a real professional tool"—a industrial model, if you will! So I think they are generally heavier giving the guitar a more hearty feel. IMHO. :? To bad you could not grab that Graffiti Yellow Plus. Those are getting quite collectable!

They're steel strips and I regret not being of assistance. I have not stocked nor used the likes of those for ages. A most likely source of those would be an orthodontist.

That first pic of the Wilkinson the text says .010 max, but then the diagram says .011 max. I'll start with the 10.5-48 first and see if that works for me and how much wiggle room there is. I have the American Standard Series booklet at home, have to find it and have a look.

To be more precise, there were several types of diamond abrasives used and perhaps still are. They were used primarily to 'strip' the contacts between teeth so that they could be rotated or their positions condensed. There were diamond discs mounted on a mandrel with a protective guard. They were used in a dental handpiece to make the first cuts in the preparation of teeth for crowns and inlays before the advent of ultra high speed air turbine driven instruments. There was one strip, in particular, rectangular in shape, like the old Schick Injector razor blades, that fit in special holder, held between the thumb and index finger. That was also a stripping instrument for a variety of applications. Dental instruments have found a host of other applications which I deem most interesting. I know you have quite a collection of those in your shop.
