No, it doesn't appear to be a "new" user staring crap, it was a simple comment by a long-time member.

If he's not already aware we should bring him up to speed on our issue.

That thing with the Firestorm rants just made me laugh  That guy is all over the net on web forums ranting on about Firestorm's and seems to have a real bone with Xf and his guitars.

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has opinions on the optimal pickup height of the gold lace sensors. The owner's manual that came with my 1990 Strat Plus says that string 1 should be 1/16" away from each pickup and string 6 should be 3/32" away, and I have always set them to those heights. But then it says "best results are often obtained by having the Sensors set closer to the strings." Has anyone gotten much better results either closer or further away? What about a different height for each pickup?

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge and belief, LS's do not inhibit string vibration through magnetic damping so adjust the pickups to the height which gives your ear the best sonically.

Correct, you can adjust them as close as possible to the strings, it's just a matter of the best adjustment to your ears.

I've got a question for you Strat Plus gurus...

So a few months ago, I had my first encounter with one of these guitars. I was at Guitar Center when an older gentleman brought in his lovely Graffiti Yellow Strat Plus. It had the split Wilkinson nut and the E4 serial number, so it was a very early model. It had some modifications, including a pearloid pickguard and a Dimarzio humbucker in the bridge position. Regardless, he let me play it, and it was monstrous, not only in sound, but seemingly in size as well.

I had my Mexican Strat with me, and it just seemed like the Strat Plus was a whole lot more guitar.

My question is, were the Strat Plus bodies and necks thicker than other Strats?

Let's wait on Xhefri's 'two cents'. He's THE guru on these Forums.

Is there a new plus build coming n e time Xhef? I love looking back over this thread, especially those 2 warmoth bodies in the two-tone sunburst (the flame and curly).

He's got a real busy life. Hard to predict what's on the agenda hobby wise.

Lace sensors are not string dampers. You can adjust their heights to whereever it sounds best to you.
