Yeah- he is the man 8) however I've got a couple under my belt already but yeah- I probably will connect with him at some point. I just have to be good this year.

The guitar on his avatar just up above, was done just last year, and it's creation was posted on the Forums. It's gone overseas. He and his wife visited with us last fall. The man is first class, all the way.

Not for the moment; it will probably become an OEM in a future incarnation of the series.

Super 55s are currently OEM on a few CS guitars and available as a SPA.

The reminder that these exist is appreciated. However, neither Blertles nor I, [who happen to be of like mind with respect to the Lace Sensors in both the Plus series and the Claptons], have had any opportunity to audition them. As for their discontinuance, that's been a matter of discussion in these pages many times over the years. I've always maintained that Fender was bent on developing a home grown noiseless pickup so as to be independent of Actodyne Industries. Eldred related that they sent the VN's to Clapton whom, on finding them much brighter than the Gold Lace Sensors, switched. Yes, we know he still uses an LS guitar for slide. However, the Plus series by then being defunct, that closed the door on Lace except for the MIA Buddy Guy guitar which was eventually D/C'd. He now uses passive VN's on his stage guitars, and the MIM Polka Dot is fitted with generic MIM pups.

It seems that Eric definitely abandoned the Laces; the last time I saw him with an LS-equipped Blackie was in 2009.

As of 2010 his slide guitars are fitted with VNs and a regular tone control.

He previously played a VN-equipped guitar for the slide repertoire during a couple of shows in 2006/2007.

2010 saw the end of a long-time association with Actodyne General which began in 1986.

ImageThis guitar was made in 1990, according to the serial number. Blue neck, Gold middle, and red 'dually' neck pickups. Sorry about the pics; my flash isn't working correctly.

One of my all time favorite finishes for sure !!!!!!!!!

It's a nice finish, but I like the Icestorm finish more.
