From that post about the Corona Factory visit, leads me now to think about the 'how many pieces' blanks these paint finished guitar bodies are cut from.

I have seen 3 piece bodies quite often. On solid colors one can sometimes see the lamination seam where the pieces are glued together. Don't think I have seen more than 3 that I can think of.

Asking about tone differentiation on that basis, given the varietions of these guitars, would be of no value.

I am not a big supporter of the idea that an electric guitar sounds different because the body is one piece, 2 pieces or 8 pieces due to the way electromagnetics and string vibration collaborate. I know this subject gets beat to death on about every guitar form that I've ever read. I even suggested to the television program producers for Myth Busters to produce a program dealing with tonewood's. I thought that would make a great program because the electric guitar is so iconic in American culture. They could even had used some famous rock musician playing his electric guitars part of the experiment! Unfortunately the producers didn't jump at my idea!

I used to have a 62 reissue Strat. Then I bought my first Strat Plus. I was amazed at how the Gold Lace Sensor pick ups sounded so much like the pickups some my 62 reissue. It was not until almost a year later that I lifted the pickguard on my Strat Plus and saw that there was a swimming pool route. I would've never known! And I certainly couldn't tell any difference because of the tone. Then later put gold Lace Sensor pickups in my 62 issue. ummmm, Sounded just like my Strat Plus! 8)

Sorry, did not mean to hijack the thread or start a tone-wood debate!

Hey PicknGrin86, welcome to the Forum! Nice guitar. I love Lake Placid Blue. Did you happen to see the Ice Blue posted right above your post? Kind of a light LPB. Good you kept the original pickups. If you ever did consider selling this down the road the value will be better if you can put it back to stock, especially with a 87-91 model as those are becoming more collectible.

Yeah I'll keep the pickups of course in case I decide to sell, but to be honest, it would take very tough times for me to sell this guitar. I'm extremely attached to it. I did see the Ice Blue and that thing is sweet. I wouldn't change a thing about mine but I do get a pang of jealousy when I see those maple necks. Also the caribbean green with maple in the earlier pages of this thread! Wow. Beautiful. There is one for sale on ebay right now with maple neck. Man I wish I had the money.

Xhefri, Where can I get the allen screws for the Strat Ultra Floyd Rose bridge? Mine are just about stripped out and need to be replaced.

Mr. Dumble would disagree with your contention about Leo's having perfected the guitar amplifier by 1964. Dumbles entire approach to amp building was close the holes in Leo's designs. Apparently, he did.

"Perfected" in this context doesn't necessarily mean everything was perfect. For example, Edison is said to have 'perfected' the light bulb. That doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement and/or change.

I pick 1964 because that was the first year of the Princeton Reverb which just happens to be my favorite amongst the Leo designed amps.

Never played a Dumble so I can't comment on what 'holes' they filled. Considering the price of a Dumble, I'd have to win a lottery to buy one - that's a fairly large gaping hole if you ask me.

Thanks for posting this Mike. It's fascinating how stuff like this acquires celebrity and winds up costing out. You find it it automobiles, wrist watches, ladies hand bags and guitar pickups. Another manifestation of the human condition.

USA Lonestar Stratocaster (American Fat Strat Texas Specials).

Has a Pearly Gates Plus humbucker in the bridge and two Texas Specials in the neck and middle.
Some models came with a tortoiseshell pickguard.

Produced between 1997 and 2003. No longer made.

Someone had put a Strat Plus neck into a USA Lonestar body.

Nice partscaster. :)

Looks to me to be a 1989 Ice Blue Strat Plus that someone changed out the pickguard to a Lonestar or some custom modification. If you pulled the guard so we could see the back of the pickups we could tell you more. I have one this color in my collection. Very hard to find color. Mine has a maple neck and I posted it in this thread a page or so back. Check it out. I do not think the Lonestar Strats came in this color.

Thank you!
This is it's not in the state of original.
To know the identity of this guitar, I came to like about this guitar further!

Ice Blue Metallic was a colour option for the Hot-Rodded American series in 1999.

Our chick's beloved axe is a genuine '99 USA Lonestar Strat which has been modified with an '89 Strat Plus neck.
