Definitely 9.29 (well I suppose it is a bit higher than I previously said!)

Must have been crushed to learn it wasn't a '10'.

Is this how you tested the Blue on the other Plus DX, by going through the jack plug? Seems like the TBX would affect the k output depending where the TBX (lower tone control) is set. On the DX Plus the Blue is in the neck which is connected to the middle tone control which has the standard .22 Cap on it. When the TBX is on 10 you are running through a 82k-ohm carbon-film resistor. Either way, the tone controls could lowering or affecting the K reading. Try this same thing with the TBX on 5 and see what it reads. I always test pickups either on the bench or on the inside of the 5-way switch with the tone controls out of the loop (pickup in an off position.) There is always some resistance from the tone controls unless you are using a "no-load" tone control turned to 10. :?

Right new readings then;

1989 Plus Deluxe
Blue - Bridge = 9.29k TBX tone on 5
Blue - Bridge = 10.32k TBX tone on 10

Silver - Middle = 6.48k TBX tone on 5
Silver - Middle = 6.96k TBX tone on 10

Silver - Neck = 6.91k (don't now why it changed!)

1991 Plus Deluxe
Red - Bridge = 11.99k TBX tone on 5
Red - Bridge = 13.87k TBX tone on 10

Silver - Middle = 6.35k TBX tone on 5
Silver - Middle = 6.84k TBX tone on 5

Blue - Neck = 12.37k

With the TBX tone pots on 0 there was only a 0.01 difference to the 5 setting on both guitars and pickups.

The volume control (set at 10) causes that type of measurement to be about 3% too low.

Now we can't let this thread get buried too far down on the lineup! Here is a 1994 40th Anniversary Strat Plus deluxe I recently picked up. It is in a really beautiful Candy Apple Red AKA CAR. It is almost mint condition. Since this is a DX Plus it has the Blue/Silver/Red Lace Sensor pickups. No one else have any new Plus' or Ultras to post??? :?: :?: :?:

Actually I picked up several over the last few weeks. Hey Doc, I do sleep! Just have a lot on my plate and guitars are an nice escape from work. But then speaking of nice guitars, I hope to put my hands on the one you just acquired. Now that was a score! Here is a nice sample of a a Strat Plus in Gunmetal Blue. Kind of weird they call it Blue when it is a bit more green. This color comes alive when the light hits it just right:

Image

This is a super hard color to photograph as the color can vary due to the type of light you are under. This guitar is near mint but has a few small edge nicks on the back of the neck. I stung up a few of my guitars with .09s (this one included) and I have to admit, the light gauge strings feel really nice. These older Plus' are becoming more collectable.

I have a few more I will try to post soon.

Great guitars, but I never cared much for the neck shape. My '93 TelePlus...yes. You'd have liked that one.

Wow Mr NH, Love those Taos Turquoise Plus'! When I first started my website I had one and could find no information on the color so it----made up one  So on my website I posted it was called Aqua Blue. Ok, ok, I know I should not have just made up a name guessing! Yes bad thing to do. Well, in my digging around (3 years later) I found that some of the early Plus' followed the vintage color tradition and that this color was actually called Taos Turquoise (and corrected it on my website...glup). But the damage was done. I saw a few of these start showing up on the web (and eBay) and they were being called Aqua Blue. So you can see how easy a myth can get started!!!  Since then I have owned 2 more. Very hard to find!! Great score and hope you did well on it.

Here is the one I sold that was the offending guitar!

Xhefri How goes it? I sold my beloved Taos Turquoise plus with a rosewood neck a while back and wanted to cry. I told myself if another nice one came along I would jump all over it. And with a maple neck there is something about the early 87-88 maple necks that jsut gets to me. They seems to be very light and extremely resonant. Nice pickup on the gun metal blue love that color.

MR NH, doing great. Thanks for asking! Ya I hear you! Even though all these Plus' should have the exact same neck profile, some of the 87-88 seem a tad slimmer. Even the 1991 Ultra I just picked up feels like it has more taper toward the headstock. I have a number 87-88s tucked away. Better investment than the stock market these days!
