I've blocked the bridge on my MIM 08, and was wondering if it would be better just to install extra bridge springs? Do the spings help tuning if you tend to grip gorrila style bar chords? :x I don't ever use tremelo, and play soft Gospel to Hard Rock.

The idea is to have the bridge stay level when blocked and sometimes when using extra springs and or screwing the clamp all the way into the body the bridge can tilt backwards too much. Since you have the vintage or mexi style bridge with the 6 screws to tighten down you could just do that.I just tightened down the bridge screws and turned the trem claw all the way in on mine.I added no extra springs.

If you ever have the 2 point trem style I would recommend blocking it.
