I paid 300 bucks for it so no big loss...and I still say I would put that neck up against any modern fender neck in tone and feel hehe thanks for all the feedback, glad to have some info before I tried to sell it. I will just keep it then and enjoy it myself. I am glad I joined up here lots of quality replies.

Solnovi your wasting your time and money buying vintage parts for that guitar. Whats worse theres someone out there with a genuine vintage guitar need ing parts that your buying, increasing the rarity of and therefore inflating the price of.

Your guitar is a far eastern fake that you've been stung on. That logo is so wrong its laughable. A 70's style stratocaster lettering on a 60's style neck with no truss rod. The font used to write fender has never been used by fender, but looks vaguely 80's. On a guitar that was relic'd within the last 3 months yet has a 50's serial and non of the relevant neckheel/neckpocket codes. You may convince yourself that its a vintage but you wont convince me and a few others here.

That said there is absolutely no reason in the world why that guitar shouldnt play and sound great (providing the neck is straightish, given the lack of rod). Some of the best playing/sounding guitars i've owned were fakes.
Heres my favourite, plays like my customshop and sounds like Jesus breathed life into it.

I purchased an old Stratocaster from a guy a few years ago for a song. And I am interested in selling it, but I have had trouble verifying its age. One reason for this is because the person I bought it from had stupidly made modifications to it, like installing modern pickups, replacing the inline tuners with post tuners and the string saddles were replaced as well. But, after comparing to other period guitars, the neck plate with the serial # 31975, the bridge plate and trem, the strap buttons and butterfly string tree for example are to my untrained eye authentic. But the most distinctive feature is the neck, the cellulose has a beautiful dark golden color with the spider webbing of tiny cracks only brought on by time, and I am pretty sure it has a rosewood "Slab" fingerboard. It has clay position dots both on the board and on the side. The original paint color appears to have been gold, but he had also painted it a sad black....it has begun to wear though and the original paint and primer has begun to show through. I have some photos to show it, If someone could take a look and let me know what they think I would be very grateful. I have an extensive collection of guitars...not as a collector but to play, and this one plays and sounds unlike any I have ever put my hands on despite its haggard appearance.

Solnovi truthfully , that is a fantastic relic job and really looks the part. I am shocked with my wooden neck also and as people know I actually paid 6500 for mine ok hahahahahhahahaha but my friends here alerted me just in time and within 3 days I got my money back and kept the guitar for a few hundred dollars because I do like it as a guitar and a novelty.

Besides the obviously bad logo decals on the headstock, there are two signs that it's not an old Fender neck:

the fret marker/dots at the 12th fret are too wide.
there is no fret marker/dot at the 21st fret.

You can see those things before you even notice that there's no truss rod.

It is probably Vietnamese! as those are the only early '70s copies I've ever seen that didn't use truss rods. I do believe that it's an old guitar.

Hi guys: just checking in - what a lot's happened on this thread since my previous post!

That's even worse than my worst fears confirmed, I'm afraid. I had a slight fantasy that there might
be some genuine parts in there mixed up with the non-kosher. But it don't look like it...

Still. More nice work by the Scooby gang.

At least you weren't stung for big bucks, Solnovi. And if you can coax nice music from that guit -
then what the heck?

Anyway. Stick around, why not. We have fun here...

Cheers - C
