i noticed chuck bat's rig has got several pedals
and a rotovibe
no offence but there are several people talking tone here
running 30 different pedals into marshall hi gain amplifiers
i know a guy who plays 6 pedals into a line6 combo
and uses the onboard effects and a digitech rp150
there is no way you can hear that much of a difference in tone
with full on distotion playing drop d riffs

tone to me is what does the pickup soundlike

with guitar -to-cable - to - amp

We held band practice last night at a new location and I forgot to bring my amp, a Fender Blues Jr. The bass player decided to run straight into the board so I used his small amp. I didn't sound anything like what I'm used to. I could not EQ that amp to sound right no matter what I did.
Amps are important.
