So where do I get a Stratocaster with a Maple neck and a Floyd Rose Tremolo system installed? I like the one that Prince played on Saturday Night Live a year or 2 ago. Do I have to make a special order to Fender? Or do I find the best Srat I can and hope I find the best guy (whoever and wherever that may be at what cost?) to install the tremolo system in it for me? Anybody else like this type of set up and can give me their 2 cents?

When the picture was taken it had neck and mid stock pickups and a Seymour Duncan unknown type pickup in the bridge...As of now it has a Red/Silver Lace sensor Dually in the bridge and i'm bouncing back and forth with Lace Hot Golds for the neck and mid or a Lace emerald for the mid and purple for neck...
The Red/Silver dually is a massive pickup very hot 22.2K.. Great for Classic and hard Rock tones..I'm not a metal player any more..But i spent a lot of years in a Iron Maiden Tribute band where i played a G&L Invader and i wish i would have used the Red/Silver Lace back then...

Do you have to have a Floyd Rose? Or would you be interested in a competing, microtuning bridge system from Kahler/Schaller? Fender Japan has produced lots of nice guitars with the Fender System 1,2 or 3 bridge/trem system....string locks, microtuners, etc. Fender USA has had a few models with a Floyd Rose over the years. There are lots available used on Ebay...

Thanks for your reply. But as for ebay....I don't like buying a guitar I cannot play first(touch-feel). And I don't care for a relic(got to be the stupidist ploy ever).

Long story short, it was originally a 1972 Fender Strat body that was originally Olympic White. At some point in the 80's, he took it to an Auto Paint shop and they applied this color (Teal is the best description as it changes from Blue to Green depending on the angle) and had a Kahler installed.

I yanked the Kahler off of there, popped it on Ebay and ended up with the black FR in the picture. Despite the cavity behind the tremolo (from the Kahler route), I have the FR set up to only lower the pitch so as to accomodate the EVH D-Tuna (if you activate the D-Tuna w/a floating setup, it will throw the whole thing out of whack).

I had a local tech do the FR install as this is way beyond my level. P'ups are a DiMarzio F-Spaced Evolution in the bridge, Red Lace Sensor in the middle and Duncan Hot Rails at the neck.

Really enjoying the pics and info on other's strat's. I have a 64 strat that I have made a few mods to over the years to keep it playable but was always afraid to try fixing a Floyd Rose to it.

I was curious (not all knowing) is that a Floyd Rose (original or model type?) I have seen they have slightly different models. Didn't know what was the type/model used with strats from factory. Sorry my questions may be not known by anyone for sure. I am just confused as to what models of Floyds are used in Strats...Guess I'll ask they're website too.

I have seen a FR strat in GC but it has RW neck. You could swap w/ a Warmoth. It's not terribly expensice. I think it has an EMG 85/81 set up. I did not try playing it because I have 3 FR guitar already and prefer MIA Fenders. I think this one was a MIM or MIK.

I don't blame you! With a little bit of elbow grease, traditional strat trems can stay in tune just as well as a FR or a Kahler. I would try to leave that '64 as original as possible.

I've found that using my trem in earlier days wore out my nut. I found a guy who finally replaced it to original feel...but unfortunately he has passed away. I am hesitant to let anyone work on my guitar since i had a fret job to it years ago , when after I had a a piece/chip fall off my fretboard one day while playing. Musta been glued back on after accidently happening during repair ( I since have lost the chip). Had to replace original tuners and bridge is w/saddles are diff. I have played this one for many years and it's my baby.
