I hope the Highway 1 line-up is not discontinued either. I love my HWY 1 Stratocaster. It plays really well. I also played the Highway 1 Tele and it was awesome too. It is in my opinion a great intro model for the MIA line. I highly recommend anyone interested in these guitars to go out and get theirs before the rummors become fact.

I got a brand new Highway One Strat earlier this year and I LOVE IT! Funny thing is that I ordered one in because the store only had SB and I wanted black. I expected to get a 2009 - maybe a 2008 because it was late January when I ordered it. What showed up has a 2007 serial number - so I guess it's an NOS 2007 model. Regardless, the tech who set it up told me it's one of the best he's seen come in - that it's a "keeper".

I was a Tele-only player forever, and for some reason the Highway One just spoke to me. It immediately became my #1 and it is one of the finest guitars I've played. I love that the Highway One series has a unique set of specs - the jumbo frets, giant headstock, satin nitro paint, and Alnico 3 pickups. It actually LOOKS and PLAYS different than everything else in the Fender line.

I really hope they don't discontinue them. Such fantastic guitars!

3 major music stores claim that the highway one strat
is no longer made in the USA. they are now completly
made in mexico. they all also agree that the USA made
highway ones will become a collector
strat. i have my 2007 USA made highway ones sss.

Maybe Fender should come out with a Road Worn Highway One ... essentially a MIA version of the MIM Road Worn.

This is a cool idea for a less expensive guitar made with american parts. I thought the nitro finish idea is great, the alnico Vs for greater low end and the RV/RP middle pickup. I think the larger 70's headstock adds sustain and so does the heavier bridge. Im hopeing it is not discontinued because I want a flat black/ rosewood combo for my first electric guitar. One thing for sure is I and going to have the thing professionally set up.

DO NOT DISCONTINUE

I was too lazy to remove the stickers off. The guitars that have stickers on are the ones I purchased on GAS, and are usually seldom played and are in the case and stored in the closet. So I never got around removing the stickers.

Well, if you leave them on too long, be sure to report back to us if anything funny happens. I've heard that if you don't take them off, they can "chemically" merge with the pickguard (somehow) over time and make some kind of mess when you do try to take them off.

At the best, you could end up with "tan lines" in the shape of the stickers on the clear plastic.

Dude that happened to mine!! I bought a '99 Strat and it created this stick stuff that was impossible to get off!! It sucked!

I was lucky. Got my 07 Hwy 1 sss at GC new for $388! I got the tip here. Its honey blonde and I wish I'd gotten the daphne blue. I like the blue better, but they only had black, wine red and honey blond in stock.

I'd get the highwayone, one :P .
Seriously black tele's with maple necks are always in style regardless of guitar fashions

Yes they are not being made in Mexico I don't think any have been saying that and if they are there wrong . They just use parts that are also used on some of the MIM guitars as a cost a saving measure. Also as you have put it many times in the past none of the more costly labor and time intensive improvments of other MIA guitars. What you call the bells and whistles!!!! But I reiterate the word improvments!!!!
When Fender increased ther prices there was no way that this guitar was going to demand a 900. price tag. And as for it being a classic not a chance of a snowball in hell with the amount of guitars made now days.

A budget version of an MIA guitar, a collector's item or "classic"? I seriously doubt if any high end guitar collector will be drooling over a "classic" Highwyay 1 strat :)
