Maybe they were affecting mim standard sales? perhaps with a poly finish- there is more profit in an mim than a H1? ....Hmm. a thought. :?

Nah If they were affecting MIM sales then its all the more profit, they are after all more expensive. I think the only difference between urethane and cellulose from a manufacture point is what we pay for it on guitars and a bit of drying time. Granted FMIC did spend millions on a new extraction unit so they could spray cellulose, but we've paid for that 10 times over now.

I do think the 70's roadworn is a damn good idea. Whether it should replace the Highway one or not is a different matter.

Yes, remove those stickers or you won't like the resulting discoloration on your pick guards. I hope they haven't been on too long.

You aren't the only one posting here. A question was asked, then answered.

It is not clear about the S-1 and rolled fret edges. it is only clear you don't care. Read around, a lot of people love their S-1's.

and again, support your claim.

just the facts Ma'am.

12B, he is not worth responding to! I think it was his attitude that put the forum in such a funk yesterday! That's what Trolls do! :)

Just ignore the fool, he's nothing but a troll that cant hold a conversation or formulate a decent argument. Its like dealing with a petulant six year old, that only responds to what they want rather than seeing whats going on.

Oh yeah i'm only talking about him in the third person from now on, he doesnt get conversation from me.

A '70s Road Worn would complete the triumvirate of early Strat styles.

But this thread continues? Was there any official confirmation of the HW1 discontinuation?

You'll understand when I say that I just cannot wade back through the post in this thread to find an answer to that question.

Nothing from anyone at Fender.

just rambling here. Not even about whether they're being pulled or not, this thread has lost all value.

Not to torpedo the OP, but word on the street now is that the Road Worn series is nearing end of life.

I honestly dont see the HW1 competing against the American Standards in that they are quite different. The pickups , bridge and circuitry are totally different .The sales of the AS have been quite good.People buy each for different reasons. The highway one is a great guitar, i didnt like the fact that the finish flaked off just by looking at it, but thats just me.

"just ignore the fool"
right on! this is good advise - the trolls only exist when we give them a place to.

Horse doo on his last comment as well-
Im planning on adding a S1 set up to my parts guit im building. and as for rolled edges, they are a BIG reason i enjoy my MIA strats over other guits like gibsons. the rolled edges make it feel played on and broken in. I have tryed and tryed to talk my self into buyin a nice gibson but just not comfy with them.

IMO the more variety within reason fender can offer the less likely folks will go elswhere to build partscasters. with in reason of course.
