There are most likely millions in circulation already so I doubt very strongly, just like their 50th Anniversary models that they will ever be bonafide collector's items. And let's just say for argument's sake that the H'1s did make it to that status, it would be child's play to mutilate other models in an effort to counterfeit them. YMMV

It could in the year 2099  Just like a Ford Pinto

You have a point!LOL

yeah, i read this post before write something. I say that because any further discussion about fender will end or not the production of the Highway one is foolish. Fender production increase every year. May this year not. But Highway is (like i say) the entry level to USA guitar market. For the rest of the world that guitar means a real posibility to access a real MIA without paying an eye for an american std.
If fender will end the production of the H1, they will need another guitar to replace that space. I think the H1 replaced an old model called "american traditional" (correct me if i´m wrong) or something like that. I didn´t believe that the RW will replace the H1 because it´s not a MIA. Thats the idea that i want to say. I know fender makes great guitars. I love the H1, i have one (honey blonde) and i just saying what i think. Sorry if i say anything wrong, i didn´t mean to.

You didn't say anything wrong. but the point of contetion on this thread has nothing to do with anything anyone has said about the quality of these guitars. Although one temper tantrum throwing member keeps trying to suggest that is the case.

Sometimes Fender suprises me when they discontinue equipment.I remember when they discontinued the Texas Special strat/ Roadhouse. But life goes on and it allowed me to pick up a fine guitar for 500 bucks.

Its a quality guitar for sure, theres no dispute. Truth be told its such a good seller, i cant see it being away for long. FMIC do not directly profit from the 2nd hand or collector markets. For that reason alone i dont think they will want such a good seller discontinued. It would be like ending the AVRI 57 or 62, or the standard. A completely alien concept for sure. Those two AVTI's have been in the catalogue since fmic bought out cbs. The standard is well, the standard. It may have a different name sometimes but its essentially the same guitar. I'm sure if it does end it will be replaced as a 70's roadworn or even a 68/72 hotrod. After all with the highway gone 70's style strats will have a sizable gap in the catalogue. That cant be good for business can it. Although I dont like 70's style headstocks it would be nice to see what is a popular style get more representation not less.

As for our little hitler who constantly has to provoke arguments in defence of a unattacked guitar, I suggest we ignore him. The few points he makes are hardly earth shattering breakthroughs of mental acheivement. The rest of his repetitive rhetoric just isnt worth reading.

Niki and CV I have read and enjoyed and learned from many of your posts, but I have never seen you guys irked about anything like this thread has done. That being said I have to agree with a lot of what was siad. I don't really think any current fender will be as prized in the future as the 50's 60's and even 70's strats, not because they're not as good or even better, it's just because there were so many more of them made. I may be wrong and only time will tell, but big collectors prices go by rarity and Fender just produces a lot more guitars than they used to. I think they produce good guitars at each level, much better than the guitars I first learned on.

PS When is Ceri going to another build thread, that was great!

The word of the day is 'patience'. I heard of some fellah's uncles brothers moms dad that its not a million miles away. Within another 6 months i'd have thought.

It depends on when he gets bored or finishes whatever he's building now. The Auntie of that fellahs uncles, brothers, moms, dad told me 'he's building a 1:50 scale replica of noah's arc. Out of 70's woolworths guitars'.

Believe that you'll believe anything.

I honestly dont know when.

Hey, you never know. I mean, CBS Fenders were once viewed as garbage and now look at the values on them.

PTM thats one of my points. The CBS fenders weren't all junk. The Tele's and basses were fiercely good, treasured possesions. The strats were good too, i just think that strat players are exceptionaly picky people. Also with easily twice as many strats being made and sold during that time, there would be atleast twice as many mistakes.

Can the highway one attain the same status? Well its a great guitar so i dont see why it couldnt. The production numbers do make it so that there are a good few of them out there, which affects collectibility adversly. That doesnt devalue the guitar though and yes it could become collectable. Just not next week, maybe in 20 years. Its not a PRS dragon with mammoth ivory in the inlay, or part of a limited run of 10 guitars. Its that criteria that makes instant collector guitars.
