ive seen a tone of highway 1's on craigslist being advertised as MIA Standards

I have a highway 1, and i still find it hard to tell the difference, we should set down some guidelines guys.

i have also had a guy try to sell me a MIM the case was HOME MADE and the guitar's weight was off. i had never held a strat that light before, like the body was home made out of some light weight wood.

Be careful out there guys

After looking at the web site, some of those guitars look impressive. What I don't understand is how they can be imported with the made in USA stamped on the back. I thought there were laws against that kind of stuff. That being said, I only buy a guitar from a reputable dealer. But I do thimj Nikki has a good idea!

I dunno

I'm looking at those fakes and thinking 'how hard can it be to get them playing right?'
After all some of the junk i've suffered and made good over the years before i got fed up and just bought decent guitars. I cant help but think 'I'll get it playing right'. Common, modern belief is 'anything can sound right with enough money thrown at the hardware'. So £200 on some nice P90's, £100 on a bridge/stoptail, another £60 on some tuners. In a worst case scenario another £10 on fretwire and you could have a nice looking, playing and sounding goldtop. £370 parts £250 guitar, flog the castoff's on ebay -£30, so £590-600 and you've a decent bit of lumber and a lot of fun getting it into that state.

Seems more and more attractive. Someone please convince me (with intellegent reasoning) that i'm wrong before i go too far.

Price is indeed attractive. Is this real wood? Does anyone own one and can provide feedback?

Given the standards of wood that come from the far east i cant see it not being real wood. Especialy when its got to be less expensive than ply in that economy. Even if it is ply lots seem to think it wouldnt make much difference.

BTW Atolleter, please check my good spam thread. Theres a link to a very good and cheap strobe tuner program that may interest you.

Niki I am doing that right now building partscasters and my first loaded body is on ebay but still hasnt sold. Its not that easy to sell quality partscasters on ebay niki. I basically do it for the love of it and its very expensive, the way I see it is that even if I dont sell for a profit I will at least have some protection of most of the money I spent and be able to at least sell them at cost price. In the mean time I am learning a new skill and getting better at it as I go along.

I must say some of these guitars do look really good in the pictures. Shipping out of China to the US scares me though.

Hey, good find on the strobe tuner, I'll download the demo from home later on my laptop. I may try that one on the piano, demo is 442 instead of 440 but I doubt I'd be able to hear the difference, I mean the difference between A and A# is 26.16 hertz.

You can reset the Hz and adjust +/- 50cents too.
