Hello Bluesguitar65,

If they close it'll be a bummer,
I visit a few of their stores regularly.
I am always welcomed. I get to play lots of
different guitars, I never get hassled about it,
no pressure to make a purchase and good pricing.
All in All it's a good time. I have nothing bad to say about em.

Cheers.

well i have two little music stores around me.....one only sell Samick..the other is way out of price range (i think they had a Fender VG listed for $2500...then got mad at me when i told them they was listed anywhere on the internet for $999.....so i dont go there) i drive an hour and a half to go to GC for two reasons 1. to play the guitar im thinking on buying. 2. most times i walk out paying less then i would if i say ordered from MF (thats after taxes and we have almost a 9% tax here).

If GC was to go under...im not sure what i would do.....all i can do is hope that this is a bunch of (we know what) because i do plan on buying two more AM. Strats the first of next year.

The guitar center in Hoover, AL, and Jackson, MS are fully stocked. I was just in each the other day.

I bought a Honey Burst American Deluxe Strat and a SuperChamp XD. "Dynamite in a small package". I am replacing the speaker with a Greenback today, just for kicks.

Not sure where all of this going out of business talk is coming from.

However, storefronts may go the way of typewriters and adding machines as people become more comfortable purchasing off the net.

I would hate that because I love to go in and play with the toys.

I contacted GC's Cooperate Center, and they said the statement is:

"a false accusation created to cause panic"

nothing to worry about, people. don't get your panties in a bunch.

if this truly were the case, they would cancel KOTB (since it would be a 4 month long ordeal, the last thing they would want in the middle of their biggest competition of the year)

Wow I hope this is not true. Guitar Center is the best place around where I live.

The worst thing about this is there will be less competition for online retailers and prices will go up because of it. Then I'm stuck with the local shops around me that pretty much just sell off brands at premium prices. About all I end up buying from them is strings (just so I don't pay shipping).

Has anyone else noticed that they treat you different on the phone. Even though they are the same company MF just seems to be better to deal with than GC.

As far as the brick and mortar stores go, there is a GC about 5 minutes from where I used to work but I only went there twice. The people who worked there were so bad at service it wasn't worth my time. I have been in others and they are awesome, unfortunately I'm not going to drive over an hour to go them.

That would suck a little cuz I live less than 2 miles from GC which is right next door to Sam Ash. All the surrounding little shops went under but they had NO good name brands. Richmond Music Center better not go under. It's a bit of a hike for me but they have all the good name brands.

After that whole "United Breaks guitars," I'm not to thrilled with the idea of order guitars on line. Also, I like to play em before I buy em. Every piece of wood is different.

Mmm, yeahh maybe I don't know though. It seems like the only place around now for guitar and music things. But then again, I have noticed a ton of new sales...I just got a pack of like 8 different percent off, get one free blah blah blah in the mail haha.,

However, its most likley that Bain and the GC management are restructuring GC to cut costs in these lean times. They would fire a lot of people, close underperforming stores, sell non-core assets, and renegotiate leases and debt.[/quote]

And increase prices...

Im not suggesting anything, bankrupt or profitable, but in my experience, companies always respond in this way to inquiries of this nature. To me, this corporate statement means nothing.

Of course you are suggesting something!

You are suggesting that statement could be a lie and that

I mentioned above that we need to watch for the things in your last sentence. Is any of that happening?
