Hello all,

Any good tips for practicing chord changes with the use of a metronome would be greatly appreciated. I know, boring, but appreciated.

Thanks to all,
Chris

Simple answer.

Set the tempo at a pace your are comfortable with and then slowly increase it.

My teacher keeps saying to go slow enough so the chord changes don't break the rythym. Right now this can seem annoying slow for me on a 4/4 - right up until I need to change chords (correctly)!

I like a LOT of no-tempo practice to get down the correct fingering (to build proper muscle memory where you are not practicing mistakes). Then add in a sloooww metronome count (and for 1/8 'note' up/down strumming, using a different click on the up stroke - so a 60 bps setting is actually 30 1/4 notes).

As Caleb said then you can speed up the tempo a bit at a time as long as you are not breaking rythym on the changes.

I find that once I practice the fingerings enough so they are mpstly correct, forcing myself NOT to look at my left hand can also help with the speed.

Thanks for the advice. I never thought that not looking at my fret hand as much would help me improve. Makes sense though. It will build trust in my own ability. I see that now.

Thanks again.
