Heres the trem.

That pickguard won't work well with that last body. Because of this:

Quote:
A '50s routing is different from a '60s routing: the '60s has an extra "shoulder" in the control cavity to accept an extra pickguard mounting screw. Do you have that 8 screw pickguard already?

And how do you know that trem will work? Okay, it is Mexican body, but it says that it has the wider (2 3/16) American trem spacing.

It seems to me that you really aren't thinking through all of your purchases and being careful with what you are getting.

It seems to confusing to me. Do I need a different trem and pickguard?

I'm afraid that trem won't work (unless you do a lot of wood working or metal work). You can make that pickguard work. One of the screw holes won't have any wood under it! Just cut off the head of the screw and glue it into the pickguard hole and no one will ever know. You will have to drill a couple more holes into the body also.

I'll repeat this with much regret:

Ok thanks for your help. I got the "I dont know what im doing part" LOL.

So what trem do I need? Or can I make this one fit? Im pretty good with a drill and wood filler. If its mearly a question of the pilot holes matching up that shouldnt be a problem. I can fill up all the pilot holes and redrill them.

You need a trem with the 2 3/16" vintage (American) spacing for the 6 mounting screws (that's according to the information on that body's Ebay page). As for making a 2 1/16" spacing trem fit, you can search for information on that conversion here or on the WWW. It can be done. Do you have a drill press? Are you going to refinish that area?

I'm sure your second build will go much smoother.

Do you really need a neck plate with the "fifth hole" ?

That hole is for the micro-tilt neck adjustment, which I believe neither your body nor your neck has.

Sorry!

Do you really need to nit pick every purchase I make? You have been quite helpful, but is that post even necessary? I know Im not a fender fanboy, I dont know everything there is to know about strats. I got that neckplate because it didnt cost 80 dollars and it was actually a fender brand. I know what that 5th hole is for I have an american standard.

I know you didnt mean that like it came out. Its just everytime I buy something for this project its bad news. I actually knew what I was doing this time. All the neck plates I found that had 4 holes didnt have the fender logo. I really didnt have much choice.

Hi callen3615: I'm not out to nit pick, just to provide useful information (like Orvilleowner).

If you Google "genuine Fender parts" you will find suppliers of everything you need. For example, four hole Fender neck plates are available here, amongst many other places:

http://guitarpartsresource.com/neckplates_fender4.htm

In addition to suppliers like that, WD Music is a very good place to find bridges with alternative screw spacings for every job:

www.wdmusic.com

And many people like Callaham bridges too:

www.callahamguitars.com

Last suggestion: rather than modifying your body to take that pickguard with the wrong number of screw holes, why not simply buy an eight hole pickguard from WD Music? Many options on color, thickness and number of plies...

Good luck - C
