I'm not 100% sure, but I'd bet that even squire stamps theirs. also, I made an edit of a few other items i noticed in my post a few up from this one. mainly regarding the neck.

Well, I have an 87 squire and the neck area is stamped, not sure what the numbers mean though (F 362?). It also has a little piece of paper that says Fender glued in it.

Yeah, I was pretty sure squire stamped theirs. I know a warmoth body would have a stamp in the pocket as well. Not sure about a mighty mite body though. Either way, for $180 on a loaded body you likely got your moneys worth.

I own a MIJ strat and the headstock has 2 stickers that yours lacks. Now thats not to say they didnt somehow rub off. The neck looks fine (outside of the extra screw holes) just pointing out the absence of the 2 decals.

EDIT: I can see a 3rd decal through the glare, so the only decal it looks like its missing is the "original custom body".

For what you payed, I dont think you got jipped on either! The neck is likely original Fender. I'd be suprised to learn that the body was though. The best way to know for sure is to remove the pickguard and post any #'s you find. look on the pick ups too!

I dont want to spoil your excitement, but its best you know what you have.

No, I want to be informed on what I buy. I feel quite stupid for not looking for a stamp on the body. I would like it to be fender but if it plays well I dont care. I just asked the sell but I dont expect a reply for awhile. He hasnt shipped it yet so...

I just found a mighty mite body that looks alot like the one I just bought. It says its made of ash so maybe mine isnt made of plywood.

Edit: I just looked at the one I bought and it says that it is made of alder so it isnt plywood.

WHEW!

Here are some things to look for on the body.

1) the position of the "middle" two screws that hold the trem cavity cover on. On that first body, those screws were even (the "import" way). On the second body, they are offset (which is the Fender way).

2) the spacing of the six screw holes that mount the trem. Are the outside screws 2 1/16 or 2 3/16 center to center? The Mexican/import distance is 2 1/16, the American distance is 2 3/16. You will want to buy a trem with the same spread!

THanks dude. I bought a mim vintage trem last night. I assumed it would fit for obvious reasons. I only plan on having 2 screws tight anyway. I heard good things about that trick. :)

What exactly were those obvious reasons? Were you told this was a Mexican body (from a Classic 50's perhaps)? I sure hope your MIM trem fits it!

A '50s routing is different from a '60s routing: the '60s has an extra "shoulder" in the control cavity to accept an extra pickguard mounting screw. Do you have that 8 screw pickguard already?
