Looks like a Strat style guitar  They do have frets. The Judicial system declared the Stratocaster a generic body shape open for public use.  The evolution of a posting.

21 frets for me, 22 fret strats just dont look right and playing that high up the neck sounds rubbish regardless of whoever is doing it. Squeaky squeal notes should be banned.
BTW washburn used to make a 36fret guitar. near impossible to intonate

Well a 36 fretter would be 6, 8va wouldnt it. I played one once it wasnt a nice experience and definately a gimmick. You had to use the nail of your little finger up the top end.

I revise my previous statement. I just realized "Hawaii Five-O" ends on the 20th fret. But frets # 21 & 22 remain untouched on my Strat. Perhaps I can sell advertising space on them... 8)

I've used the 22 fret about 3 times in 39 years and 2 of those were with a slide who needs it. :?

Add more frets and you have to start moving the neck pickup toward the bridge. Eventually you lose the neck pickup entirely. If that's not an issue for you then more frets are no problem. I observe that players who spend a lot of time high on the neck are more likely to play with distortion rather than clean. So they are more likely to be happy with a pair of humbuckers rather than three single coils.

Where do you draw the line? Where do the frets end?
Louis Prima had a song called 'The Lip' about a trumpeter that played 'so high only dogs could hear him, just for kicks'.

Oh yeah i had a bit of a bash at the posted 22/24fret tab on my 21 fret guitar last night. All you have to do is play the A at the 17th fret rather than the 22nd and bend up to the B with your index finger. Its not difficult at that point. Take all your high D notes as 21st fret C#s bent up. A little tricky but no real biggie with a bit of practice. The only real problem would be getting the high D to ring constantly if needed though its not implied in this case.

e|-------22-------22-------22-------22-------22-|
B|-22b24----22b24----22b24----22b24----22b24----|
G|----------------------------------------------|
D|----------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------|

Well, as I later said, I've realized that I do play at least one song that reaches the 20th fret. But even frets 1-15 offer a lot of real estate for most music--that's still most of the fretboard. 8)

22 frets allows an easier bend to "E" then 21, with the high e you now have another complete octave. of coarse my 24 fret Jackson's making rounding out to the next octave really easy.
