As far as the 50's Classic having different pups than the Classic player im unsure..I do believe that the classic player has the 57/62 ...After reading over the specs i would assume they are the same pickups ..They are both advertising vintage Staggered Alinco's so i would assume that they are the same..But i would check with some one more knowledgeable than me..

If you read the spec tab yes seems the same pickup except the "reverse wound", but in the description boxyou read: "....'57/'62 vintage-style single-coil pickups (reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup) ".
The same on international product guide in pdf and in US gatalogue 2009frontline_instore-domestic.
You can also read some user review on harmony-central and user say about '57/'62 pickup, so I think and hope pickup are '57/'62.

Hello EGrier65
Your post is very helpful for me in case I should have problem handle neck and fingerboard of Classic '50s.
A good thing should be play both model at the same time to hear the sound and playability , because I shouldn't want to buy a Classic '50s and change pickup...

Why not? Tons of people who buy Strats don't keep the stock pickups in there anyway. Fender doesn't really specialize in making pickups. Aftermarket companies like Dimarzio and Lindy Fralin and Seymour Duncan do and they have well deserved reputations for aftermarket replacement pickups for Strats.

I never play on stock pickups. For me they don't cut it.

Hello 357mag
With that words I means that I want to purchase an instrument with a good pickup to play it immediatly without change it because there are bad, The reason is bugdet ,otherwise my choice would be Vintage '57 reissue.
I don't tell that I never change pickup, but I would do it in tha future.
Yes there many producer for good pickup for Fender guitar , but also some original are good , infact on a recent David Gilmour signature there are two Fender and one DiMArzio on bridge,.
Gilmour on his '57 reissue fiesta red had a set of EMG .
All depends first by pesonal feel and music to play.

Guido,
Yes the Classic Player DOES have the American 57/62 pups in them. Looking at close-up pcitures of the Classic 50's, the pole pieces are not chamfered like they are on the Classic Player. So that should tell you that they are indeed not the same pickups. I will get some sound clips together for you so you can hear the POD.

EGrier65 what do mean for "chamfered" ?
What are picture do you refer ?I see the original ,but I can't see the difference.
I have these doubt of pickup becasue there are a a little confision, becasuse in the desription you see 57/62, in spec tab no, in U.S. catalog 57/62 , in international european catalogue 57/62, in web catalog of italian importer no.
2 dealer tell me that thei don't know , they will ask to official importer then tell me answer.
they tell me not all model from U.S. are imported in Italy.
But there is only two models of Classic Player: Classic PLayer '50s and Classic Player '60s, so I think it's impossibile, fro me, that Fender make two version of the same model, one for U.S. and one for Europe.
Regard sample in mp3 I mean sample played with your LIne6 POD connected directly to PC sound card through XLR or jack to ear the sound .
I send you my mail by pm.
Bye
Guido

Guido,
What I mean by chamfered is the top edge of the pole pieces are angled and not squared off. See in the picture

http://www.premierguitar.com/Stream/Str ... _Type=full

And the classic player 50's do have American Vintage 57/62's in them.
The classic player 60's have custom shop 69's

Here is a picture of my Classic Player stock 57/62 pickups. I would not think that Fender would change the design whether it is purchased in Europe or America. It is what it is. :?

Image

Also I found a picture of the Classic Series pickups. Notice the pole pieces are squared off.

And here are the Gotoh locking tuners:

I will send you a sound sample in a day or so.
