He invented multi tracking and the first electric guitar as well as being a number 1 hit guitarist performer. He was from another world and Godbless you Mr Les Paul and his family. The idea of inventing an electric guitar ? Technology created rock n roll. He was an artist and genious inventor in the class of Leonardo DaVinci.

Les Paul, as amazing as he was, obviously did not invent the first electric guitar. He didn't even invent the first solid body. ANd he didn't design the guitar that bears his name (Ted McCarty and Gibson R&D figured out the guitar, and made an endorsement deal with Les, at which point he made a few suggestions, and just about never played a stock one.)

And he most certainly was not in a class with DaVinci, who explored medicine, art, architecture, philosophy, weaponry, and politics, all with a genius's eye.

What Les Paul really did was open up the possibility of studio craziness in a way that nobody had even thought of before, and that took an incredible imagination. He will never be forgotten.
