Got both of the 60s road worn models. Where are your roadworn pics Mike?

Looks great! 8) I'll try to find some better pics, but here is one of
my 1973 Stratocaster. It's road worn, but I've got even better
pics somewhere that show even more wear.

I'm looking to see how "worn" the new official road worns are compared
to this one.

This one shows one of my Strats with a well worn scalloped neck :

I must have several photographs that I should get digitized one of these days. Some of them are very old.

Hey Miami Mike. Nice 70s strat. Is that strat naturally worn or was there any help in the process? What caused that worn area at the bottom part of the guitar, near the rear strap button? A worn area is often caused by excessive contact in that area for the finish to be rubbed or worn off, for example the area were your right forearm rests and the fingerboard.

The wear on that was from heavy gigging. Arm wear, pic wear (in the guard) and the bottom is from guitar cables going up under strap (a lot of times was rushed and tight and from moving it eventually wore finish.)

Makes sense now. So how many refrets had that strat been through?

I don't own a Road Worn Strat but I can contrast my home worn late 1965 Stratocaster with a heavily reliced Joe Strummer Tele.

My old Strat has a few finish chips, fading where my arm rests and way too many belt buckle scratches on the back. The ABS pick guard has yellowed quite a bit. Fender changed the pick guard material around the time my Strat was made so it won't turn green. I can live with that. :)

The Strummer is based on a mid 60s Tele and Fender really nailed the feel and the classic tones. I couldn't resist buying it when the price dropped to $700. That was another G.A.S. attack I couldn't resist.

I removed the neck on the '65 during the weekend to see if there were any dates on it and to adjust the truss rod a bit. Here's a pic of the neck.

Man, do I feel old.

Actually, I do feel wonderful. My body hasn't undergone the heavy relic treatment yet.
