Are there any major differences between '08 and '09 MIM Strats? I was about to get one new for a great deal but at the last minute I noticed it had an '08 serial number so I put it down and figured I should do a little homework.

Thanks

No, I think that '08 and '09 MIMs are pretty much the same. There were some major updates in '05 (or was it '06?), but since then they've been the same.

The Products description mentions "new features" as follows " New features include a tinted neck, parchment pickguard and control knobs, and a ’70s-style logo", and there is an "effective 11/08" - but not sure if that means when these changes kicked in. Or whether you consider those 'major'!

Trying to compare pics on EBay, the neck logo is definitely new vs an '07, however I don't see an '08 to compare.

I would take a look at that on the one you were after, as it may tell you if it has the newer features (I LOVE the new logo & the tinted neck compared to the older ones!)

FWIW...I have an '08 MIM standard and it came with a parchment pickguard and control knobs. It doesn't have the tinted neck, however.

Also, notice the serial number is on the front of the headstock pre-2009.

No it says "Original Contour body" meaning it has the Strat comfort contours.
