It actually doesn't bother me anymore, but thanks. That chip happened in 1993. I'm cool with it now. You know how Murpy's Law works. As soon as I fix it, I'll put a huge dent in it somewhere else. So I just leave it alone.

Besides, think how much lighter she is now! When you get older, these things matter...

Sorry for the ding. Didn't realize it was from 1993, though.

I wouldn't just leave it.

By the looks of your photo, there appears to be a gap under the edge of the paint on the crack. Could mean the damage hasn't stabilised and there's more paint to come off yet?

Sorry mate..

I think you are right. I looked very closely at the damage and I can see where more of the finish has delaminated but is still in place. And cracks are propogating in the finish. Does anyone from Fender read these boards?

Here is a link to Fenders warranty on guitars. Lot's of loop holes. Should be read. Sorry about your guitar my friend and good luck!
http://www.fender.com/support/pdfs/FEND ... D64CE6.pdf

BTW Have you ever tried to or removed the neck for any reason? This should be done with great care.

I've read the warranty. There is an exception for finish damage due to changes in humidity, temperature, etc. So you are right, it is full of loop holes.

The neck has never been removed.

That is a shame. I'm sorry for you my friend!
If Fender does not fix it for you maybe a email to www.stewmac.com will help you in your repair. I'm assuming you still have the chip.

I think Adey is right. After looking at yours again, it does look like it's gonna go further (if I'm looking at the pic right). it does look like another chip just as big might come off right along that neck line.

I'd be fighting tooth and nail over this. I wouldn't care what the warranty says. Laws are out there to protect consumers against lemons, and I would consider that a lemon paint job.
