Hello Scottie63,

Are you indeed? Never done it before? Good luck...

Websites are fine, but if you want a chance of not making a pig's ear of the job you need some proper grown up advice. At the very, very least pick yourself up a copy of The Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine:

http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Player-Rep ... 102&sr=8-1

Study the chapter on finishing in that - it's good enough for your first attempt and won't swamp you with too much information. It'll also be the best few bucks you ever spend on your guitar in all other departments too.

You could also look at Guitar Finishing Step-By-Step by Dan Erlewine and Don MacRostie:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_plan ... -Step.html

Probably the best thing of its kind - but probably too much for a beginner. You'll only be bewildered by all the detail.

Lastly, not to blow my own trumpet, but if you want some pictures right here on the Forum you could look at this rebuild project by my humble self:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=17948

The finishing gets going on page six of that thread. But be warned, it was not written as a how-to guide. It'll just give you some nice color pictures of the main stages...

Please post pictures of your work as you go along - we'd love to watch.

Good luck - C

Hey there's also a forum on the reranch website, a lot of experienced people who are extremely helpful, truly a wealth of knowledge. :D
