I wouldn't trade my 72 for something new. It's got too much mojo.

Will Fender give me a trade in on Lonely Boy, its a great strat full of total history and it works and plays marvelously. Total fake Vietnam Strat but it has class. One piece wooden neck but straight no buzzes, sounds like a 54, beautiful sunburst and yes that infamous first vibrato bridge. It says 61 on the body neck and under bridge and the fake logo is from a 62 strat serial number, 3 serial numbers. But the head stock is a biggy from seventies style. Because they used the 62 serial numbers and its stamped under the vibrato plate I do believe its a 61/62 build making it the first fake stratocaster ever made, have already used it on youtube and the sound is very fifties check it out. The song is called Oh Babe Please Dont Go Vinny Pop Sounds like Elvis. The one and only Lonely Boy on vinnypop youtube channel.

Personally, looking at it from a distance- why oh why are the government giving minimum trades on crap trade-ins? sure common sense should prevail- isnt that putting the financial institutions at more risk?? are they going to lend to just anyone now? or is the U.S finance market going to go down in a blaze of glory?

This sort of thing happened here years ago- prices are jacked up or the bottom line cut out the bottom of car prices- and finance companys are taking you to town on interest rates & lending to those who are slow on the uptake.. = finance institutions exposing themselves to huge risk. Now, half of THOSE companys no longer exist... go figure.

WWVD?

This cash for clunkers, is our governments attempt to not only fully decapitate the American car companies, but also the people who still support American labor and industry. They will succeed, and then replace american companies with offshore companies, successfully keeping the American workforce at home on unemployment. What happens when our government starts giving out I O U's because of financial issues? They already ran out of money for the clunker program. Rough times ahead I am afraid.

Oh man... so people in say- detroit will lose their jobs in the car making indyustries when they go offshore- and be lumbered with debt after they purchase their new cars and have no means to repay loans?

Well they may get lucky and get a job with nissan or toyota, but I doubt that foreign car makers have jobs for all the unemployed. It makes no sense to me. There are certain things a government could do to help get its country out of debt, and out of a recession. Exporting nothing, and importing everything definately is not the smart move. It is the, straw that is intended to break the camel's back. 1913 Fed reserve act marked the beginning of the end for my country.

Kinda fascinating from a distance though - probably for the wrong reasons.

Still. Can we save this thread? I liked this idea:

If I had a really old strat like a original 1954 I would never "TRADE" it in actually I never get rid of it.

How about trading in old clunker cars for a Strat?

So, say you have a well worn '93 Stratocaster that needs fretwork, the pots are scratchy and you're tired of putting money into it and you'd like a change.

If Fender offered you a $400 discount on a new American Standard most of you wouldn't take it?

This is the most pointless thread I have seen in a while......Who really gives a $@!&?
