Hi, 4Tune — there's still life in this story, then! C.O.A. stands for Certificate of Authenticity, and all custom shop guitars come with one. If it's lost, you can apply to have it reissued, but generally it's one of the first things you'd look for when checking a guitar out.

[edit] Dude, that sort of thing is uncalled for..

[edit#2] The Custom Shop decal on the back of the headstock looks unusual... the "F" should be superimposed on the large V, not above it. I would expect the serial number to be on the neck plate rather than the headstock, too, but I could easily be wrong there.

Thanks for the pics.

Nothing like that's ever been seen on this website: the VOODOO decal? that weird serial number.

If you want to ask the guy who's the head of the Custom Shop whether or not this came from his people, post the pictures in the "Ask Mike Eldred" section of this forum.

umm... I'm not sure of the procedure, actually, but you can contact Fender's customer relations people with your serial number and any other relevant information and they can work out what the story is. If it's legitimate, it should be eligible for a certificate saying as much.

Generally, people become suspicious when they hear of "custom shop" guitars being sold with no C.O.A. I'm sure it happens, but it doesn't usually look good, that's all. Nobody here likes to think of anybody getting ripped off.

Here is a link to the Head of the Fender Custom Shop. Post your pictures there and he will answer your questions.

Mate, it's OK... really. All I meant was, we don't like the idea that you may have been ripped off, or your dad, or anybody.

There are just some weird things about your guitar, that's all... like the bullet truss rod. None of the other Hendrix tribute models have that (there have been seven so far).
