I took it into the shop and my tech is going to fix it for free. :)

Congrats on that. Your tech sounds like a swell guy. Good luck and keep your head up!

Good tech alway allows the customer to come back the following week for a tweaking at no charge.
P.S the humidity right now outside here in Md. is 83% and its one in the morning  All you had to do the last couple of days is stand outside to sweat.

It's like that from May to October here.

Tex,
If the buzz turns out to be a low action then the fix will be easy. I know the whole guitar setup business sounds a bit complicated but really it isn't as long as you are alittle mechanically minded. Alittle trial and error is involved, and as long as your trial isn't too extreme you shouldn't do any damage to your guitar that isn't fixable. If you do make an adjustment know what to expect and make very small changes. And especially don't crank the truss rod to much.
For the first few years I owned my Strat I had no clue what any of the little screws did. After lurking here for a good while, then participating and also buying & reading Paul Balmer's The Fender Stratocaster Handbook I started to setup my own guitars. The book is excellent, featuring not only setup/maintenence info, but also cool stories and info on certain guitars. Also, as you know posters like Ceri, Nick, Chet, CV, Hopkins, BigJay, and many others that escape my memory (please forgive me guys) know more about Strats than most techs in my area (and I'm sure most other areas). So if you've got an issue they are there to help. So if you feel up to it give your own setup a go. In the long run it will save you enough to buy a new guitar or short run, a nice pedal. I'm here to provide my limited knowledge too if needed. Its also very rewarding to get your Strat set up exactly to your needs which is very difficult when dealing with a tech.

P.S I'm listening to the Winwood/Clapton Live from MSG CD. Unbeliveable :!: :D Can't Find My Way Home; If I may borrow a term from a friend waaaaaaaaaaaaa
Tex, you need to post some more of your recordings. I've always enjoyed them and its great to see a young man into the blues like you are. Not to mention the ability to play them well. May I request a cover of Mr. Fantasy even though thats not exactly blusey?

That CD is awesome, I've got to get it. Or maybe I'll just get the DVD. Or both. :D

Yes, you may. :) In fact, I bet I could even get some of my friends to learn it too. Maybe I could work it into the band I just joined...

I don't have too many blues recordings since I've really only been playing blues for about six months so far. Most everything before was either modern rock or metal. And I'm actually embarrassed by most of it.
But I'm working on a few things right now that will probably end up being recorded at some point. I'm trying to write an acoustic blues song, and I've been figuring out several Freddie King songs. If I can get several more of those instrumentals under my belt then I'll have a decent blues set for the next time I need to play more than a couple a songs.

Oh, and it's young woman, not young man.
But that's OK, it's really easy to assume that everyone is a boy on a guitar forum.

texasguitarslinger,

My apologies. It was and is wrong to assume everyone on this forum is a boy. I love to see girls rock out with guitars. Especially Strats. I must admit I am embarassed, as that was quite foolish of me to assume you were a guy.
Can't wait to hear some of your new songs. And I have to say that the Winwood/Clapton CD is one of the best I've bought in a while. Every song on it is killer. And its a double disc set so there's alot of great music. Keep us posted on how your setup goes.

Russ

OK, well I picked up my guitar today. The buzzing has been fixed, at least temporarily. Some screws were loose on the saddles or something like that. My tech recommended I look into finding a nicer bridge (I have the old pre-2005 version), which is something I should probably do considering I probably won't be getting a new guitar any time soon. The neck could probably use some adjustment later on too, but I need my Strat right now for the King of the Blues contest in a couple of days.
