Hi rafaellg, welcome to the Forum.

Yes, '50s reissue guitars are made with alder bodies.

Cheers - C

Welcome to the forum! You may be able to get one that was made in Japan. I think Ceri finally got his from there. MIJ's are great instruments if you can get one. 8)

Indeed: my new '57 is Japanese, and Fender Japan caters quite well for left-handed players, I believe. They have a left-handed '50s Strat, model number ST57/LH, available in six colors (including Fiesta!).

But there is also an American Vintage '57 left-hander, here:

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... no=0100122

Another price of playing left-handed is that you have to do without a picture... :(

Good luck - C

Doesn't Brazil have the largest population of Japanese outside of Japan itself? It would be nice if that meant C.I.J.s for all, but it seldom works out that way...

Back in 2004 my wife bought me a Std Strat MIM, me being a Pro USA guy had to have MIAs (so i bought two). Although i really love my MIAs I paid alot of money just for it to say made in USA....i love my MIM just as much.

Now i have never played a Fender CIJ i can tell you the from the other guitars i have played that was made in Japan and Korea...they take pride in the work they do....the finish are some of the best i ever see (this is out the door....not custum shop) I wouldnt think twice on buying a CIJ strat (as long as it felt good).

Then again being a old man (ill be 50 in Jan) and being liad off at work, Im all for keeping the money here....but thats not what we are...we should be called the "Fender World"

I wonder if those Aliens would by a MOE Fender Stratocaster (Made On Earth)

I think fender doesnt work with japonese models more. In brazil, its very difficult to find an american fender, lefty much more difficult. Its not difficult in Sao Paulo, because the city its big. But, the main problem is with lefties. And fender has no japonese models since 2005 I think.

Hi again rafaellg: they have them, they just don't export them out of Japan much anymore.

Frustrating for left-handers, because Fender Japan looks after them a lot more than the American or Mexican lines. Far as '50s reissues are concerned: the American Vintage is only available in one color left-handed (two-color sunburst). And the Mexican Classic and Classic Player models are not available left-handed at all.

Against that, as I mentioned above, the left-handed Japanese '57 Reissue is currently made in at aleast six different colors. Same with the '62:

Might be one more reason Forum user Chet Feathers likes Japanese Fenders so much. I agree!

Cheers - C

I think fender has no japanese models more. In fact, japanese fenders are made with basswood body, but the reissues that I saw they are made with alder, the lefties too.

So, I dont think this is true. The best fenders and guitars are made in USA. No doubt about it, see what Clapton chose, SRV, Hendrix, etc... The best guitars are made in usa. In fact, japanese uses basswood bodies, I had one mexican fender and has nothing to do with an american.
