I'm just about to install the EMG DG-20 setup in my American Standard series 2008 black strat. I found when using this guitar in the Marshall Haze 40 (bought it a few weeks ago) that the stock pickups had that traditional hum.
Are the DG-20s free of this hum. Are they as good as the price I had to pay?
Thanks,
Byron :?

Yeah, I had a set, didn't like them, glad I got them before the price increase
I did have them in a Korina Strat body, so that's not going to sound like a Strat anyway. As for hum, there shouldn't really be any, since that's pretty much why Gilmour started using them, right?
How's that Haze amp?, I'm thinking about getting one.

The Haze is excellent. I had a 50 watt with two 8X10 cabinets in the early seventies and foolishly sold it.
I haven't been able to crank the Haze yet but even at low volumes it does exhibit all the qualities I would expect from a Marshall. The echo, chorus and reverb (and vibe of course if anyone would ever use it) track their settings between channels and seem to be calibrated to realistic proportions (the effects are not overboard or cheap sounding). The overdrive channel has lots of crunch, clean channel is full bodied and of course the craftsmanship is exceptional.
So far I just love it...

Whew.

'Thought this thread was about that goofy late 80s Casio DG-20 synth guitar witht he all-"B" untuned nylon strings and molded rubber fretboard (yes, the frets, too).

Carry on.

He used the emgs cause they had more output so they could play larger venues

Yeah, instead of using more amps or the house system, Gilmour got the EMGs to make the whole band louder, right?
try doing a little research

i got them in my am deluxe,i love them if you turn the spc down and the exg up you get sorta thin strat sound, but i usually keep the spc up and exg down to get a nice thicker sound. the only thing i find with the presence control up if your near computer monitor it will not hum it sounds sorta like wind sorta(not too sure how to explain it) i just added a bit of noise gate and fixed.these things scream with high gain and sound really good clean aswell

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll be installing them next week (too busy at work for the moment) and look forward to trying them. Really. :D
