I'm curious to see how many people remove the stock pickups and replace them with an aftermarket pup. I put a set of Custom '59 Copperhead pups in my #1 after 11 years simply to inspire me to play more and also to check out a new set of pups in my Strat. Needless to say I was very happy! Cpperheads are not that expensive ($145US) and are made entirely by hand (except the winding machine) and sound wonderful. Plus the fellow who makes Copperheads has several more models plus he will work with you to build your own pickup from the ground up. He will also provide a full refund even if you cut the wires while installing them. Sorry I know this sounds like a commercial but I'm just very happy with his product. I'm even comptemplating changing out the SCNs in my Amer. Deluxe for a set of '67s although I dig the stock SCNs. Anyway, have any of you changed out your stock pups for an aftermarket set and been very happy with them. I'd like to hear about the pups and, if you can, compare them to a sound (or band) we'd be familiar with please. If you've made the change and are unhappy with them please advise us also.

My #1 today, might not be #1 next week, but to answer your question it's the hot noiseless set.

Since I only have one Strat it's my #1, and it's a 2009 MIM Black with a one piece maple neck and stock PUP's. :D

Most of my Strats are stock.

I can't really say which is my #1.

Has anybody replaced their stock set with CS 69's, or for that matter any other Fender CS pups? What do you think about these sets?

Nikininja, how do you feel aout the Vintage Noiseless? You do have the mid-boost circuit I presume. Does the Midboost ciruit even out the frequency range(of course with a hump in the mid freq) of these Vintage Noiseless pups or just pump up the mid range? I've been told that without the boost the Vin Noiseless have a harsh treble freq. and little bass. I've never been able to give a good listen without the midboost so I am trusting your scientific aural analysis.

Rick Jones, How do you feel about the Gold Lace sensors. Do they overly accentuate any specifc freq.? How do they do with presenting the entire spectrum of frequencies? I've actually heard they have a vintage sound. It that true?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Russ i utterly despised the VN's without the mid boost. Stupidly sterile sounding. I read somneone liken them to a piezo played through a hifi. Thats about the most accurate description i've ever heard of them.
The mid boost helped make them usable but that strat dont sound like a strat now. I prefered the mexican ceramics that came with the guitar over the stock VN's.

For some reason, I don't feel like rushing out to try a set!

Actually, I'd be more inclined to buy a set of Tex-Mex than any noiseless set. That's just to try something new, mind you.

My #1 Strat as of right now has Lace Red-Silver-Blue. However, I never really was fond of the Red. I'll probably go with a Dimarzio HS-3 or Duncan JB Jr. bridge PU in the future.

I have only one strat. My 2008 MIM and I have Dimarzio area pickups installed. In the neck and middle, I have an area 58' and in the bridge position, I have an area 61' installed. Nice sound and NO hum.

My favourite guitar with originaly fitted pickups is my 57Hotrod. A dimarzio tonezone and two scn's. If anyone thinks scns dont sound like singlecoils put them next to a tonezone.
