Hello Niki and Orville Goodmorning or evening, thanks for the advice am listening. Yes this Fender creation stuff is very addictive and can be very expensive and also financially dangerous. Gibson cannot offer me the creative freedom to do anything its like ...this is our guitars the necks are joined one piece take it or leave . They are brilliant guitars but the Fender spirit has taken a hold of me. Niki its a pale blonde sunburst exploding into yellow red the the classic brown mahogany black. Have started to listen and learn. Orville why do I have to worry about a dark stain on the natural wood when it is going to be covered in a blonde or do you recommend a pale watered down blonde exposing some grain ?

It's a technique to really bring out the contrasting colors of the grain.
It looks real good under a translucent blonde.

Ok a translucent blonde, will then need to water it down with turpentine. Thanks Orville, appreciated, Vince.

vinnypop, when you said "blonde," this is what came to my mind.

I don't really understand what you are talking about: blonde sunburst?

You obviously failed with that image you tried show. Can you point us to a guitar in the color you are planning?

Thats a nice strat and the colour is close, thats one of the colours a translucent blonde orville, the hard part will be to work out and blend the others amber red and dark brown to black.

Blonde is going to be the "center" of a sunburst, eh?

Why bother with the amber color? Or even the red, just going to brown/black around the edges would look interesting. One of a kind!

that's the blonde I assumed. I love Mary Kay "blonde-bursts"! Ian Hearshy, the owner of the original Mary Kaye, actually described the color like that in "The Stratocaster Chronicles"

Sort of unrelated, but...

Speaking of color schemes, I just saw this from Gibson. I think they may have gotten word of your plans and are trying to out-do you
