Guitar Center has advertised a Bugera 20w tube amp for around $350. I'm thinking of getting it, and wondered if anyone has used Bugera amps. I know that they're licensed by Beringer, but since it's only for distrobution and not construction, I figured 'Why not?' The audio that I've heard of their larger tube amps sound pretty good, especially the clean sound.
Can anyone say why I should avoid this amp?
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Bugera are a italian company. I've played a few over the last 6/7 years. They sound great but like all great italian exports are beset with reliability troubles. Kind of like a alfa romeo, a superb drive when you can get the thing to run right, then be prepared to get under the hood again in a months time.

I wouldnt say avoid because they sound better than a lot of amps that cost way more. Be prepared to always be getting the thing fixed though.

Really?! I figured that Behringer just made up the name in order to get into the tube amp head US market. What is Behringer's involvement with them? Do you know?

I didnt know behringer had anything to do with them until i read the OP. I played em in italy years back. Not 6 or 7 years as i originaly thought it was 05. A 30watt combo as i recall. Bust on the 3rd gig was replaced with a mercury marshall ( 12 watts i know) for the 4th then another bugera for the remainder of the fortnight.
Are Behringer Italian? I always thought they were German. Our vocalist uses their 100watt 2x12 combo, not a bad tranny amp.

I got curious about these amps after seeing them in countless ads. I finally went into a Sam Ash and checked one out...I didn't really care for it.

There's an old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is". There's another old saying "You get what you pay for". That's the vibe I got from it. My experience with Behringer from my m.i. retail days tells me to stay far away from this; whether they're manufacturing or just distributing.

:o I had a 1970 Alpha 2000 Spider. I put an Ansa exhaust on it and had a Ferrari Trained (in Milano) mechanic who worked on it. I saw him so much keeping the thing on the road that we became real good friends. When he was between appartments once, he moved in with me and my wife. Now that's a close relationship with yer mechanic, no?

I top-ended a Boss 302 Mustang driving that thing on highway 5 in Cali.

bluesguy01: I would never purchase an amp that was going to be a problem, but that's just me.

they are German, I believe. Behringer seems to be good at putting out copy cat products that undersell the originals. I have one of their products, a rack mount PA compressor system which works fine, but I have heard troubling things about their other goods and business practices.

Strato i had a spider too. Had the cloverleaf head fitted. My girlfriend at the time called the car christine. It was this dusty black colour and had a really imposing front grille. She got in it to drive it, the thing locked her in and started making funny whirring and clicking noises. She was literaly screaming with terror. I had to get the spare from my apartment and pretty much force the lock with it.
My god was that car some drive, i replaced a beemer 325 with it and the alfa still managed to give me a white knuckle ride. A 1.7, 4cylinder engine that flys up to 80 in 2nd gear. I think i got 133mph out of mine, it was a 92. Even these days i see them and think 'i shouldnt' but dream 'i do'. I learnt a hell of a lot about engines cos of that car.

Heres my friends car that i'm pestering to have a drive of. The british racing green matches the sunburst really well.

A 4.2 V6 TVR Chimera. The only other car i have plans for is a flathead ford hotrod. My bands drummer said he'd let me use his place to build one. I',ll get a picture of his one day. Thats a car to see.

LOL. Bugera is not an Italian company. Perhaps you are thinking of Brunetti?Every piece of a Bugera is made from crap Chinese parts in China. Most of their amps are copied directly off of schematics of existing amps, ie. Marshall and Peavey using cheap chinese components. They do sound pretty good, but often have reliabilty issues.

If Behringer is involved in these amps you can bet they are being made in there what they call Behringer City in Guangdong China!!!!

No previous experience, but I notice this shop is calling the "Bugera by Behringer", which is presumably info they're getting from their Behringer rep, so it may be reliable:

Alexander Bugera is a German footballer, if that helps?

i wouldnt buy anything behringer or bugera
bugera amps are made in china and are not reliable..
they try to fool you by making the Bugera Logo look like Bogner
save your money and buy a Fender,Mesa boogie or Marshall becuase your going to want something better once you buy this amp...

or look for a used tube amp on ebay..
i sold my All Tube Made in USA Fender 2x12 The Twin 100W in very good cond for $400
last week

here's a close up of the back of the amp..here you can see (MADE IN CHINA)
